My understanding is that Nikon's larger sensor camera is not full 36x24mm, but a little less. It is in the 22MP range. A neat trick is how the crop mode allows Dx lenses to work as expected (so an element of back compatibility there). It will most interesting to see how various lenses perform.

Having filled my large order for photo equipment at B&H, at the last stage of filling details

on-line, they say they are on extended holiday at this time (end Sep to 10th Oct). Having

a friend in NY this week only who can carry for me, I'm casting about for alternative

retailers in the same quality/economy catagory. Adorama are on holiday too.

 

Can anyone recommend other appropriate retailers in the area please (who are not on

holiday), I am looking for a Nikon 200mm F4 micro AF and much more besides.

What f-stops does one use on tandem (face-to-face) lenses used for macro/micro work

like this?

I wildly guess f11 for both to get the best of depth of field / diffraction limitrations for

each.

I think you mean the PN-11 tube which has tripod mount and rotation. The PK-13 is a plain extension tube. What I am after is a rail to fit this combo. In particular a rail that is Arca style clamp compatible and allows the tilt/shift lens to move freely.

For close-up work with D1x with Nikon 85mm f2.8 PC shift lens on Arca

B2 ball, RRS B16 converter clamp for body will allow basic (very

solid) setup. I want to add extension for close-up and use a focus

rail, and as far as posible stay with Arca style components. PN-11

tube would be too recessed for rail without spacer, but rotation is

needed. Lens weighs 770gm - too much on tubes for body mounting. RRS

site offer stuff for 200mm micro, nothing for 85mm PC. They do not

support email.

Suggestions would be most appreciated from those with experience.
