  1. Michael,

the large speed knob is for the short exposure times i.e. 1/15 thru 1/500. If you want to use any of these exposure times you turn only this large knob until the shutter is cocked and then expose by pushing the knob above the focussing knob. If you want to use any of the long texposure times i.e. 1/8 thru 4 seconds you set the knob for the short exp. times onto "B " and cock this one plus you set the desired long exposure time onto any of the long times and cock the timer for the long times as well, which means that both knobs have to be turned, then you expose by pressing the exposure knob.

In writing this appears complicated which in fact it is not, try it ! You have a very rare camera btw.

Yes there has been a Polaroid adapter, I just redently bought a Makiflex kit in good condition, Great camera, simple design but superbly made indeed, a LF (9x9cm) SLR.

  2. Hi,

the Agfa Super Intergon is a 6-element symmetrical process plasmat with 70 degree + coverage with very good performance, comparable to the G-Claron 9/305, unfortunately needs to be adapted to a shutter, easiest done by front-mounting to a larger id sutter such as a Compound V shutter.

  3. Hi,

good idea, go ahead with the Hasselblad focal plane body. I am doing this with the Rollei SL66, which has a focal plane shutter plus 50 mm built-in bellows. Results with repro lenses, you are using just the center of max. performance and stopped down 1-2 f-stops, are superb. You can use focal lengths from 150 mm through 1000mm. As of ca. 520mm you may be losing 1-2 mm on the side in case of 120 film.

Things are interesting especially if you go to films that were never available in LF or if you are lucky to still have APX 25 120 film.

  4. George,

the Plaubel Peco Profias were, I believe, the #1 selling LF cameras among profesionals in Germany. They cover 4x5, 5x7(13x18 cm), 8x10, there are reducing adapters which take the 4x5 back. I do not know the Canham 6x17 rf back, therefore cannot comment. The Plabel Peco Profias are very robust, I use them for very long repro barrel lenses and the front standard is made to hold such lenses reliably, and in my view Profias are easy to use. They may not have the last refinement of the Sinar P/P2, but due to the price at which they can be had they may be quite attractive.

  5. Hi,

just in case you have the CL-version of the Apo-Gerogon 9/300, then front and rear cells may be screwed direct into a Copal 3 shutter. The rear cell has two threads, the smaller one will do. Overall length of the lens may be a tad longer than in repro application barrel , but with a symmetrical lens this need not be undesirable for infinity applications, at least it works more than reasonably.

  6. Hi,

I found that increasing airspace between front and rear cells is not critical with artar-type designs. Increasing air space with these lenses (artar, apo ronar, apo germinar etc.) may be a means to optimize corner performance at infinity. The increase/variation of air space may be up to several millimeters with your focal length, you will have to refocus, but performance will be ok. So just give it a try with the compound shutter !

  7. Stephen,

the Apo-Gerogon 9/270 is a 6-element process plasmat, stop down to f11-16, and the then very good quality is not a surprise since you are using just the very center, a few percent only, of the total image. I am using such process lenses over a wide range of focal lengths on a SL66, nice to have the focal-plane shutter and built-in 50mm bellows of the Rollei.

Those lenses were made for professional applications, and stopped down a bit they perform very nicely.

  8. Paul,

I would expect that the 305 G-Claron with ca. 70+ degrees picture angle offer definitely more image circle than the M-Nikkor (Tessar type) or the Fujinon C (Celor type ?). The latter two are more in the range of 60 degrees picture angle.
