1.
of course you can count. the image counter on a 400D goes up to 9999 images. and i had image 0001 for the third time. it has to be set this way and not deleted of course.
the question is, should i "kill" the shutter while still within guarantee ?
D.

  2.
i have a EOS 400D and shot about 20.000 images with it. i now wonder when the shutter will start to malfunction. i dont carry a backup camera, so i might loose some opportunities if the shutter fails at the wrong moment. is it possible to ruin the shutter, just by shooting enough images ? what would you do with the camera ? besides of buying a new one of course :-)

thanks, D.

  3. Ian, for me it made a difference when i heard that they shoot 200 polaroids days before the shoot to find the right setup. for me a shoot was setting up lights while they were doing makeup ! well you could figure this out yourself, and you get there at some point.

of course iso 100 and the lens choice and apperture was clear also. but the thing that made me wonder i why do they shoot in S rgb !!

  4. thre is a Lee hood for Cokin P filter holders that is quite a bit cheaper than

the Lee hood wihtout any adapters. besides the lower quality of the cokin mount

is there any problem with the hood i should be aware of before buying ?

    the Lee P holder:

    http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/133282-REG/LEE_Filters_PH84_Pro_Hood_for_Cokin.html

    thanks for any tips, D.

    PS: my calculation includes:

    Cokin P filter holder + 77mm adapter + Lee hood= 82$

Lee Hood with one slot +77mm adapter = 153$

  5. i have no clue what and why you are planning. h1 r h2 and you dont know if they work together with the lights ? a god like camera ? maybe i have some translation issues, but that sounds weird.

the recommendation for medium format goes like this: you can shoot anything but a billboard in digital. and you will have to because of cost. if you shoot a billboard you wont shoot it with 645, wich rules out 6x6. so 6x7 is the way. wich means RZ67. you can use any lights with that camera. i dont know many cameras that wont work with normal lights, except rntgen cameras.

  6. thanks Edward, looks good. klinko&indrani is using this one, and at least two others. but fivehundret fiftynine dollars ! this is a bit too much. im thinking about spending something in the 250 range including adaptor rings.

    thanks, D.

  7. im not using hasselblad, but mamiya rz 67 and canon digital systems. so a rectangular shape would be more helpful here.

ps: what is the most useful size of gel (camera lens) filters ? 100x100 or 75x75 ?? the ones from kodak for example ?

  8. id like to hear your recommendations for a good sunshade similar to the lee

kompendium. what are the advantages disadvantages of a system with rails or

without ? has anyone ever had vignetting because of an unintentionally moves

    sunshade ?

i do not need more than one filter slot.

i had a link to a company that makes a shade that looked quite interesting, but

i lost it. if you can provide me some links to manufacturers and dealers (in

europe pls) it would be fine.

    thanks, D.

  9. yeah you are right. my shots, that are professionally retouched look way better than the ones i retouch myself. yes they have more impact or punch. how do you think an image would look like if you do the makeup yourself ?

some people are extremely sucessful with only showing retouched images. they pay loads of money, so noone ever sees an out of camera image.

this has nothing to do with "vision" or "having an eye" blabla. but its just straight professionalism.

ps: forget sepia and such crap.

  10. i?ll try... the character of the ringlight on the subject changes with the camera position. is it difficult to find a good camera position and still get a good light ?

for example if you want to shoot a person from below, it might look strange if the light gets inside the nose.

  11. well normally they have a bunch of assistants that never let someone get in there. if on cant do the job the other takes it. they work on a freelance- daily basis. and those assistants sometimes also work for more than one photographer. this is a serious job if you do it like this. they earn 150 a day, several days a week.

not wonder they never start to shoot themselves !

if you want to get in there, something i never managet before i started doing my own photography, i reccomend to go to rental studios. talk to the manager, sometimes they have an customer who also asks for an assistant. if you shot the studio people, that you understand their equipment and be careful with it, theyll rather have you aroung than the "pro" assistants who damage stuff.

also go to places like professional camera stores who rent equipment and leave your contact there.

in this two cases you will only be called when someone really really needs you. good start no ?

its cool that you go into that direction right now. makes no sense to shoot weddings if you want to do advertising.

  13. woah sounds bad. i dont know how small or big this place ist.

check out photo and film production companys. ask the modelling agency...

makeup artists from shools are usally quite bad educated.

if nothing else works learn it yourself instead of wasting you time and energy with bad quality !
