Ranga, the blue tint is due to the cross-processing.
The rather shallow DOF was intended, as mentioned, to isolate her.
Tony, what do you mean by "not enough light on the subject"?? She is well lit.

I´d rather have a critique than a rating, as I don´t really care about
them anyway. Thanks for the input.

I like the mood of this picture even more than the other one, to my surprise. Because it´s dark, I think there´s more character in this one. I like the placement of the rocks better in this than in your other picture too. They fill the sky, adding to the reflexion.

I can even feel the warmth of this picture!! The colors are great, and the silhoueted kids are fantastic.
I don´t know about the ND, would only use it if the kids could still be silhouted. The horizon is a bit tilted, but that´s the only flaw I can think of. Although it does not obey the rule of thirds, there´s nothing you could do here. I like the different colors of the sky, and you´d either lose that or the kids, so... Overall, it´s a very nice picture.

This is a very funny picture!!!! I guess you´ll make Christmas cards with it and mail everyone :^)
I don´t know if it would look this natural with another light inside the box, but you could have rotated the box a little, to get rid of that nasty highlight on the right of the box cover. You´d also get rid of the shadow on the right, while still adding volume to the box.

LOL!! Was it taken in a nude beach during the winter? :^)
Nice picture, I like the monotone and the repeating elements... The branches here and there are great, they add something to break the monotony of the lines.
-
Have you tried this in B&W? I think the colors are a bit over saturated.
-
How did you avoid the lid hinge?
If I´m not mistaken, the hinge is there, but the camera was so low that there´s almost no reflexion on the other side of the hinge.
Nice picture, I like the lines. The column on the right, the arc and the column on the left, crossed by the piano. I just think the highlight reflected on the piano a bit distracting, not so much the lamp behind the arc, just the reflexion.

Why? Can´t you see the magnificent dress Clifford wears around its royal shoulders?

Ben, thanks for this lovely, although rather sad for you, tale about the cigars... Hope you´ve managed to stop smoking again after this trip :^)
Back to the photo... I don´t thik it is underexposed, I think it´s perfect as it is. But when I look at the large image, it does appear to be rather blurred, because you probably due to using a slow speed, not that it´s out of focus. Not just the hand (which I think is a great touch), but everything. I can see it in the wicker basket, in the mirror frame, and almost everywhere else. But I think it is a great photo, nevertheless.
Oh yes, and I do like your Hitchcockiness :^)

I agree with Therese, nice colors and interesting self-portrait... As you are also holding that cigarrete, I guess it was intentional... I think it´s very well balaced, at least, I´m not disturbed by so many elements, the woman, the mirror, door, the table, the stuff on the table...
The only flaw, is that it´s blurred. Probably because you used a slow speed in this dark room.

I like the way you play with the lines, and the industrial feeling. The foreground is great, and, surprisingly, it doesn´t dominate the scene. Imo, the main elements are the lines... Nice picture.

It is a nice picture, but for me it lacks something, I still don´t know what it is... Will come back later and post if I find out.
The colors seem to be a little washed out - the shadow at the top (bottom?) is not really black, and the moutains look washed out (maybe this is what I miss, vivid colors in the mountains).
Did you use a polarizer? The sky is very dark, maybe a litle too much at the bottom of the picture, but I like it. I also like the flowers at the bottom, but they are overwhelmed by the darkness of the sky...
If I may so bold, this is one reflection picture that I realy like:

Nice colors you got there. It sure looks like an UFO landing. I second Ken´s comment on the odd angles... It could really make this a very interesting picture, if you want to present it as an UFO :^)

I also think this looks more like an abstract, and I like this. I did something like this once, with a beach, and is a picture everyone likes. It certainly works in this picture. :^)

Very nice photo. It´s good to see people going through great pains (or frostbite) to take real photographs, instead of just using PS. This is one of the shots that makes me lust for a telescope...

I've posted this same picture in Photsig, and some people commented on the lack of DOF. I used f/16 with a 28mm lens, but the print was too small (it sits in my lab desk, in a polaroid film case that I use as a frame). Actually, it does not lack DOF or is out of focus, the print is a bit soft, the lab probably did it (I know the negative is sharp, because I did stop down the lens and used a tripod). I did sharpen it a little more on PS, but I prefer the original version.

This was one of my first picutres using B&W film, taken in 1997, when
I was still learning. Well, I still am, so please comment on what you
like or dislike about this. I come back to this site every year (it's
my grandma's house) so suggestions on new shots are very welcome.
Please only rate if you comment. Thank you.

Why is she making that face? Was she surprised to find you hidden inside the mailbox? Great picture!!! And some people say it´s difficult to use a wide angle... :^)
