1.
Well, it looks ok but if I may suggest, try to arrange with the seller to let you do some test shots before buying the item.
I've bought quite some items used, but used lenses, I always buy them from a local photo shop that let me try it before I pay.
Best regards,
2.
Hello !
Nikon has a very broad lens line-up so I'm sure you'll find what you are looking for.
Don't forget to look at the sigma side also. They have sone interesting lenses too and their pricing is of course lower than Nikon's. Primes or zooms with large apertures are appealing of course, but quality has a cost.
A very inexpensive lens which is cool on a DX format camera is the nikon AF 50 1.8. i have used it several time for night shots. I bought mine used for a very moderate price.

Personnaly, I often have a look at the local photo shops in my town to see what is available as used lenses. Sometimes you can get really lucky.

Best regards,
Paul

  3.
Dear Readers and Members,
I have a quite simple, but I hope not too silly question:

I think that when I first joined as a photo.net member,
it was possible to submit a picture for rating ONLY not requesting a critique also.

Apparently now, one has to request a critique to get a rating. Am I missing something ?

Has the "submit photo for rating" feature disappeard, or do I simply not find it ?

Thank you in advance for your help

Best regards,

Paul

  4. Dear Readers,

I just tried to use my Nikon D2Hs for printing directly on a canon selphy CP 600

    printer.

I set the D2Hs to PTP USB mode,

as requierd in the user manual to be able to print to pictbridge printers.

The pictbridge menu that should show up on the Nikon body doesn't show up at all

    and no printing is possible.

My question is: has anybody achieved printing from a D2Hs on a Selphy CP 600 ?

If yes, is there any special trick ?

(The firmware of the D2Hs is V 2.00)

I tried to find if there is a way to update the firmware of the printer, but it

    doesn't seem to be possible.

Best regards & thank you in advance for your tips !

    Paul

  5. Dear Francesco,

I too had (still have) huge problems trying to get my DiMAGE Scan Dual III work on a Windows XP machine.

It now even seems to not work anymore at all even on a windows 2000 machine.

I went to my local photostore in Lausanne / Switzerland, where I had bought the Minolta. I asked if they could send it back for repair / testing. The after sale service situation in Switzerland is the following: as Minolta has been "absorbed" by Sony they don't do any repairs more except on Minolta digicams. What a pain ...

So there was only one option left for me: switch to a more expensive Nikon scanner. The store had a Coolscan V in stock , I said ok let's go for it.

I know that this is not a very constructive answer/help, but at least i can assure you that the Nikon Coolscan V is a very fine machine (At least I am happy with it). The installation on my XP machine was really simple without any problems.

    Paul
