This short lived pool existed very briefly. The little pond is gone. The beaver dam removed by
the Dept. of Natural Resources because of the flooding of nearby fields. I grabbed this after
parking on the side of the road on a cold, overcast day in Waukesha County, Wisconsin.

I found this barn which driving the rural back-roads in Wisconsin.

A rare moment when all the picture elements came together. I have treated the image with
quadtones in Photoshop.

I have done my share of aquarium shots and this is by far the better of all my attempts. Great lighting and the framing is excellent, to my eyes. Thanks for sharing,

That the bottle does not touch the edge of the frame makes is fine with me. That you captured this moment with a camera that has no cavity in which a battery goes, I have an M3, is most gratifing . I awarded the effort with a 9/9 rating, That is nice film, especially in a M-Leica. Nice work!
ps: the digital enhancement spoils the mood and makes the image appear unrealistic, to my eyes.

Powerful! Lots of energy and tension in human figures with the thermo-nucler glow in he background. Terrific framing. I like it!

I usually like the top of the frame to clear the subject's hair if the sides of the frame clear the face. This photo works , however, most likely because if her striking eyes. The lighting ratio seems right too. Why, oh why, do so many young women look so angry, sad and hurt? I have four daughters, I know why.

What a great combination of color! Gina's blue eyes and her brother's obvious red hair are wonderful! That the newspaper boxes have the same colors, only more vivid, is just a great element. Luck comes to the prepared!

A technically well executed shot. There is not, however, a "subject." The composition lacks a main point of interest. The eye is just drawn to the left corner of the frame and wants to leave the frame entirely! The main interest lays outside the frame.

Lots of potential. This shot wastes all of it. Blown out highlights and a unsatisfying composition. No city's sky is that black.

Why, yet again?

Why?

Colors are sort of interesting, but why take the shot, except as a personal record?

The discussion in this thread is interesting, thought provoking even. The discussion, however, begs the issue. Just LOOK at that shot. I lived in Wisconsin for 30 years, until Dec/2000. I have seen lightning just like that pictured. The earth-cloud bolt behind the tree plus the cloud-cloud strikes above make this a very dramatic shot. The colors are believable, I've seen them.
As is, the composition is terrific. However, cropped to 4x5/645 proportions with the loss taken on the left edge is very strong as well. I'd probably take a strip off the bottom as an additional bit of cropping; perhaps half the distance from the bottom of the frame to the top of the silhouette on the left side. I usually prefer the 1:1.5 ratio of the 35mm frame. This lightning works in both formats. I too would hang it on the wall.
I'd give it 9/9

A gaze arresting image. Composition is excellent; however, the tops of the arcs of water would be better IMO if they were equally above the horizon. On-the-other-hand, that difference draws one's gaze into the space between her hands.

Just what is the subject? Why is this of interest?

This dog looks slightly deranged! Backround needs to be blurred quite a bit more than this.
-
An unremarkable snapshot with insufficient lighting.
-
The left eye needs to be more revealed or hidden completely. A potentially strong portrait down graded by the blue pulling the whole composition to the left.
-
This may have been a compelling moment for the photographer; however, why it was special, why at the moment of exposure this was the most important subject in the photographer's world is not apparent. The bare branches are a distraction.

I do like level horizons. This is about as hum-drum a subject imaginble. The colors are pretty.
-
A very nicely executed image of a ho-hum subject.

The poplar trees were taking back the land from under this old blacksmith shop in rural
