I have a Nikon F80 that works perfectly with my Metz 70 MZ5 through
an SCA 3402 adapter. Now I that I purchased D100 (I still keep the
F80), I also want to use the 70 MZ 5.
Somebody out there hase the same outfit would recommend which SCA
adapter to use, since the www.metz.de does not have the D100 listed.
Any suggestions (other than to get rid of my Metz 70MZ5 or my
D100, :D) is highly appreciated. Thank you very much for your help.

Hi All,
I wonder whether choosing the manual focus mode can improve your
scanning using the Canoscan FS4000US ? And most importantly : how do
you do manual focus scanning ? Considering that scanning time with
this scanner is very looooong, is it worth it ?
Awaiting your recommendation and suggestion. Thank you, Eva.

Thank you all for the answers.
I think I will buy the scanner alone and use it via USB. And then decide later on whether I will need a SCSI.
I saw many posts that says the scanner produce less noise with SCSI controllers. That's why I consider the SCSI seriously.
Thanks again for the good advice.

I need to have the scanner and will buy one. In some posts I learned
that the scanner can be connected to the computer by USB or SCSI 2
card. What does SCSI 2 means ? I know this is an additional card, but
from a computer catalogue, there are numbers of SCSI card. With 50
pin, 68 pin, etc. Which one is suitable for the Canon FS4000US?
Your help is much much appreciated.

I second the opinion of getting the AFS 24-85 G. I myself own a F80 (non US market) and later this month I will buy that AFS 24-85G f3.5-4.5. I have opted this instead of 28-105. I know this particular lens (AFS 24-85G) will not work on my FM2n, however I will but it anyway. My dream is to have the following combo : AF 18-35 f3.5-4.5, AFS 24-85 f3.5-4.5, AFS 80-200 f2.8 and AFS 300 f4. Three of them are still far away, but I work on that. Now I own the AIS 28mm f2.8, 50mm f1.4 and a Tamron 70-300 f4-5.6 that I am happy with.
In my country, the second hand FM2n in good condition is as costly as the new F80 (non D and non S version). I would recommend to have the N80.
Good luck.

Jason thanks for the advice. Finally I got one and have used it in one of my relative's wedding recently. The flash is just wonderful. It's heavy alright but it delivers the result that I need. I did not have a chance to follow your advise by getting one of the bouncer to soften the light. But for sure I will get one. Again many thanks for your advice.

Some people really need robust camera like F4 and F5 and F6. Some other people don't. Each type are made to serve different expectation. I thank God N80, N65, Elan II, Rebel Ti, etc are in the market. It is good that Nikon and Canon build them so that we are not forced to buy 1v, 3, F5, F100 and the like.

BTW Maia, have you decided on what you are going to buy ?

Hi Maia,
From your posting it is clear to me that you may want to experiment with photography. I would think that you will have more flexibility with the N80. I have an FM2n. The FM2n is very fun to use. It's a pretty 'dumb' camera that makes me think everytime before I press the button. You can do much with it. However it misses some feature that I want to have. The N80 offers a lot on features that FM2n and FM3a do not. Namely : 1) Spot metering 2) Rear Sync. Those are the main reason that I eventually bought the F80. Plus of course some other bunch of automatic this and that, that I 'sometimes' may want to use when lazy : point and shoot mode (when I set myself to be an idiot), built in flash (useful for fill), autofocus (useful when my left hand is holding an ice cream cone and at the same time my other hand has the urge to shoot my daughter... ). The good thing is: I can set this N80 to total manual. Manual everything; manual exposure, manual focus, including manual setting film rating. Some other says that F80 is not built as professional body. But I guess if I handle it with care, I will keep this unprofesionnal body works at least for 5 to 10 years to come. You can't go wrong with a N80 and 50mm f1.8D. Hope it helps.

I will take my first wedding photos in a couple of months (I am
actually hired for the date !!). I am now using FM2N and F80 as my
body and a couple of D lenses (50 f1.4 and 70-300 f4-5.6) + one AIS
lens (28 f2.8). I have currently one flash that is usually coupled
with my FM2n : Metz 28C2. I am now considering to buy another big
flash for the F80 and fall in love with the Metz 70MZ 5.
Any body has experience with this flash unit ? Any comment and review
will be helpful and very much appreciated. Thank you.

I got a Metz 70MZ5 coupled to Nikon F80 with SCA 3402. Some times I also coupled the F80 with the Metz 28C2. I have no problem at all so far.

Sorry for this stupid response : are you sure the door is closed ? When the door is opened (even slightly), the film cartridge will automatically ejected.
I use the same scanner and never have the problem.
