No. 1 , much more spontaneity.
-
its a M-mount lens, so no need for adapter
great lens

If you are in the US, try Tony Rose at www.popflash.com. I recently purchased a summilux-asph from him and he was a total pleasure to buy from. good luck
-
No ... the rigid summicron is a great lens and (aside for very slightly less contrast) as good as the modern crons in resolution :-)
-
all 40mm lenses (CV, Leica, Minolta) bring up the 50mm frameline unless modified on M bodies. The CL/CLE have 40 framelines by default.
-
40 summicron-c or 40 rokkor-m are the smallest most compact in my experience.
-
Kevin,
You make that lens shine ! You are making me miss it already ;-)
Simply lovely shots of your daughter, beautiful model and photos. I agree that both should be destined for framing. The second shot in particular has such a charming whimsical quality and classic look to it. Congrats :-)

It's the 50 cron and 35 asph lux :)
-
As far as I'm concerned, good for you !! congrats

Ted is correct.
The Hexar AF with its built in 35/2 lens is pretty impressive. Sharp, great bokeh, silent mode, manual/program/aperture modes. I'd say it is equal in quality to the famed 4th cron.
Hard to beat.

Hopefully Huw will see this, as I recall he had a 50/1.2 in the past :)
Does anyone know how to disable the unusual infinity lock on the 50/1.2? Any
assistance and/or photos would be most welcomed, thanks :)

You can get a Heavystar 40 to 40.5 step up adapter and then get the 40.5mm hood. good luck
-
Peter,
It is an excellent lens, heavy brass construction, extremely compact relative to other 1.4 or 1.5 lenses. Signature that is, as others have mentioned, sonnar-like. Reminds me of the Contax 1.5 sonnar I used to have for the contax IIA. It is a relatively rare lens, and a secret gem IMHO.
Haven't had any problems with flare. Cameraquest has 40mm hoods, or you can get a 40-40.5 step up adapter + 40.5mm hood. Either will work fine.
Certainly worth keeping :) have fun!

What Kevin said :) I too have used the hexanon 28/50/90 on multiple Leica bodies (from M3/M2/M6/CL), with absolutely no focusing problems. Really need to let this online urban legend go to bed.
Of course I did once have a Leica 50 summilux that had a focusing problem, maybe I should start an urban legend that Leicas lenses are incompatible with Leica bodies too ;)

The 28/2.8 m-Hexanon is an exceptional lens, sharp across the range, extremely well-built, and very compact. A well kept secret in Leicadom, good luck :)

David,
The pre-asph lux is excellent, very smooth and pleasing signature. So too is the Canon 50/1.5 LTM (sonnar-design), excellent build quality, sharp from 1.5 up, compact, brass, also very pleasing signature.
From what I've seen of the asph lux, it seems like a great lens (albeit, not such a friendly price).
cheers

Hi Michael,
I only have experience with the metal VF 28.
It is exceptionally well made, image is well corrected (no bent lines). I am a glass wearer myself and find the relief to be quite good.
good luck, you'll enjoy it.

Michael
The intrusion of the 28/ultron exists, but is neglible, it won't bother you in composition.
Size wise, it is about the same size as a 35/asph/lux. Build is excellent, smooth handling, exceptionally nice bokeh compared to the 28/cron.
Regit Young of our forum has a gallery with this lens at work:

hope that helps :)

Derrick,
Excellent work, I enjoyed it. I liked the intimacy of your use of the wideangles, particularly in the people shots. I agree in part with Craig that a few more wide-establishing shots would pair well with the more intimate close shots in an essay theme.
Site wise, it seems to be working fine.
cheers

Thanks Stephane, looking forward to seeing your results when you get them back :)

Jim, thanks for the link. Refreshing that he took the time and effort to recount the shooting conditions, rationale and background of some of the shots.
Very good work.

If you are in Japan, some shops are able to convert G lenses into M-mounts. Every once in a long while, a G to M converted lens pops up on Evilbay :)
-
As mentioned Sherry Krauter can replace the cell. Don Goldberg DAG can also adjust it to accept standard current 1.5v batteries. Both are in the US. good luck

Lionel,
Sorry to hear of your father's passing.
Regarding your question, the difference between the 2/50 and the 2/35 is focal length, or, how wide a perspective you see. Classically, the 50mm focal length has been thought of as a normal perspective. Nowadays, many would make the argument that the 35mm is a normal perspective.
You just need to decide for yourself which perspective you want, wider, or more narrow. Ideally, bring both. Even more ideal, test the lenses out BEFORE you go on vacation.
The lenses are not inexpensive, so treat them with some care while vacationing. There is a lot of information at www.cameraquest.com regarding M lenses and Hexar bodies.
Both lenses are compatible with the Hexar RF.
good luck and have a good time

Matt,
do a search for Stuart Richardson on pnet or RFF and you will see samples of his work with the lux-asph. If you need 1.4, your decision is made. good luck
