Comments most appreciated.
Note: This is a street shot taken at a Japanese festival. No time to
set it up, the moment presented itself and I snapped it.

Very nice capture.
FYI: Those are not real Geiko ("Geiko is the Kyoto term for Geisha)
While the wig and makeup are that of a Geiko, the hair ornaments, Kimono, Obi, and shoes all are in the Maiko style. (A Maiko is an apprentice Geisha/Geiko)
It appears these are two Japanese tourists that have gotten dressed up for the day.
Having said all that, it is still a gem of a capture.
Well done.

Awesome shot Chad! You have inspired me to start exploring Yokohama a little more...

You have captured the essence of the human condition. This is the best photo I have seen yet here at Photo.net.

The only thing I would change is to correct the (very) slight tilt in the horizon.

These were the actual colors that resulted from this shot. (Maybe my white balace was off) No photoshoping was done to this shot, and no filters were used. I am not sure where the starburst on the moon came from...

What could I have done better with this one? (I realize it is a
little distorted due to the use of a fisheye on this shot.)

Great lighting. You really captured a moment here. Was this in Gion?
Actually, just in case you are interested, she is a Maiko (apprentice Geisha) and not a full Geisha.
Geisha wear wigs, but Maiko use their real hair.
Maiko also have more ornaments in their hair than Geisha do. The hair ornaments differ depending on the current season.

Very, very well done!

Great shot. What more needs to be said?
Going through your old work, you must have rediscovered a treasure trove of great images.

Other than having her stand out better from the background, is there
anything else I could have done to make this better?
Anyone got any cropping ideas?
Thanks for looking.

Great photo. I really like how the forground disolves ito the background, not clearly letting one know where the horizon is. This accurately captures what a real blizzard is like. One suggestion, just a personal preference..I would like to have seen a little more of the tree on the left. The smaller bent tree on the right is leading the eye to the larger tree on the left. Maybe a really wide frame, maintinging the current vertical would really give this photo the deep impact I am thinking of. (Granted the framing you used when taking the photo could prevent you from cropping in such a manner)

Jeroen,
Yes, I think the square crop works better. It puts more focus on the subect, namely the shoes. I'd be waiting a long time for red socks on a shot like this, they always wear white. ^_^ They don't trip that often, but they do look like they will fall down at any minute. The shoes are way too small, and those kimonos are a lot heavier than they look.
Thanks for the comments.

Any suggestions for improvement? Cropping, point of view, etc...

Yes, I was fortunate for this one.
The extremely wide aperture really saved this shot. The background was really busy and there was no angle that presented a cleaner canvas to work from.
