Did you ever purchase this bag? I'm looking at it as well so I'm curious as to your thoughts, particularly as a carry on. Thanks.

I bought this lens as the first lens purchase with my 10D. I have not regretted it. It has a very solid feel, smooth auto focus and zoom and gives sharp high quality pictures. It is my everday lens. I also read the recent review in Pop Photo and it confirmed my less than scientific opinion. It's a great hight quality lens for the money.

I have a 1GB Sandisk card . . . not the ultra. I have no problem with the card and use it for shooting in RAW and JPEG. In addition, I also have Sandisk 256mb as a back up. I rarely if ever hit 'the wall' with read write speed and I transfer my images via a firewire card reader which is fast enough for me.

 

Yet, I wonder how much faster the Sandisk Ultra 1gb will be. See the Rob Galbraith site and his story on the the new Sandisk Ultra cards. While the 1gb card is definitely based on Sandisk's most recent technology, ultra cards at lower memory capacities are difficult to determine whether you have the newer or older ultra cards.

Thanks for this post. I had the same exact problem on a fresh install of XP and PS and it was driving me mad. I finally uninstalled PS and the issue went away. I fail to see why making a file association of JPEG files with PS should cause such a slow load of thumbnails and icons but at least we have a solution.

I just bought mine this weekend at Best Buy. They just happen to get some in when I stopped by. In fact they had two. The get them in periodically. Just talk to you Best Buy rep . . . find one that will talk to you. They do exist and they will give you some advice for catching the shipment as it arrives. It worked for me! Yipee!
