I'm curious to know if you did some digital work on this. Really interesting shot. I usually don't like photos with this depth of field.
-
top half of photo is distracting. I like the drops and the rest of the bottom half. Good shot.
-
My main worry about this shot is the shadowed aspens in the lower
part of the picture. Is the sunny area distracting? Otherwise I'm
happy with it. I especially like how the clouds give a 3 demensional
feel.
-
It tried a bunch of shots around this fallen tree branch and this is
the one I liked best. Please let me know your thoughts about
composition, cropping, etc. Thanks.
-
Very funny. Like the caption. Thanks for the kind comments everyone.

I love reflection shots. It looks like you were there at the right time and had planned your shot, but the lighting just didn't happen. Better luck next time.
As far as composition goes the only change I would have made, in that spot, would be to get closer to the lake to get the foreground grasses into the picture more.
-
composition and cropping critiques are greatly appreciated

Please elaborate

I had my longest lens (210mm) on for this shot. This was the best of
the bunch. Not sure how well it shows up on the scan, but the
transparency shows the clouds literally wrapping around the mountain.
A little to much black space? Should I crop? Would love your thoughts
on this shot.

This place does exist. I've been there. This is a terrific shot and I think it does an awesome job of representing the TRUE colors that exist in the San Juan's of Colorado.
-
needs more detail in the foreground. The washed out background it tough too. I realize the light conditions weren't great and it looks like a superb location.
-
Love the reflection and grasses in the foreground. Great lighting.
-
thanks for any comments

tree trunks look like a more interesting subject here. The featureless sky in the upper left and man-made object are distracting.
-
A nd filter would possibly help here although it might result in the center mountain being overexposed. Best to wait until the contrast difference between the sky and foreground are less. All part of timing
-
deteriorating leaves reduce the appeal of this shot
-
great greens and blues. Composition is nice with clouds, mountain and village. However, the foreground seems way too dark I don't know if that could have been correct a) with a ND filter although there's no straight line or b) in the digital darkroom. Otherwise a fine shot.
-
contrast seems exceedingly high in this shot, especially compared to your other work
-
really a fine shot.
-
I know the petals on the right are out of focus, unfortunately, but
other than that do you have any thoughts about the composition?
-
I'm just dying to walk in that field up ahead. Love the road leading off to the left. I agree with the composition suggestion. A little more up top and a little less below would be a better composition (but only slightly :-) )
-
Personally, I like the lake and composition as is. The lake leads my eye to the church. I think if you didn't center the chuch the other features would dominate and detract from the photo. This is a good example, to me, of when to break the rule of thirds.
-
I agree with the cropping suggestion too. Regardless, this is an outstanding shot. Frame it!

I composed as far to the left as I could because you can see the city
of Grand Junction otherwise. It leaves me (as a viewer) wondering
what's to the right, but since I know it is a city, I personally
don't miss it.

I haven't attempted many abstract photos, but I'm fairly pleased with
this one. I'd love to hear any comments or constructive criticism on
my effort.
