I have a small problem with this image. If the photo was created with an S30, which has the flash on the left (from the photographers POV) why then, is the shadow clearly from a light source that is from the right of the photographers POV

How did I do it? Its pretty simple but sounds complex. I held the match for the first few frames while I tired to get the basic exposure right, at that point I learned that I did not have enough hands.

 

I taped the match to the end of the arm on a C stand so that the match was where I would not have to refocus each time.

 

I struck the match by holding another match and the cable release in one hand, when the subject match ignited I released the shutter. The strobe was hand held and fired by a Pocket Wizard a wired strobe would have worked but the D100 does not have a PC socket.

 

Nikon D100, 70-180 Macro Lens, SB 24 Strobe , Delkin Devices eFilm Pro CF Card ,Luck and a little talent.

I shot this as a camera test. I wanted to know about the shutter lag

on the D100 and what post processing I would have to do to get the

right colors. The Answers: Very little and Very little.

Too much crop. Shows that this was not the photo you wanted.

 

I went looking for spiders in the back yard. This is what I found.
