  1. Wait for next friday the 15th of july. KonicaMinolta has a press-embargo untill this day.... The press should already have received a presskit containing detailed info. So more to follow on friday.
  2. Then think again. Ever had one in your hand? Ever used the options on the camera? I have a Dynax 800Si which I wouldn't trade for the world. Great metering, great package overall... Very good ergonomics, the camera is an extension of my arm, just great. Never experienced that with another camera. Everything is just right on this camera.

Lenses (at least APO) are also very good, but here in Europe Canon and Nikon are much more expensive. So that's why I chose Minolta!

  3. From another forum I heard that the shutter of the Canon 10D 'only'

lasts about 50.000 shots (1388 films). Allthough it seems much, the

advantage of having a digital camera is that you can shoot a lot more

then when using an 'ordinary SLR'. I do shoot a lot of films with my

analog SLR and expect to shoot way more when going digital.... Should

I be concerned about that number of 50.000? Anyone experience with

that?? Shutter replacement could get expensive, not?

  4. I am with Craig Bridge... Just take the slide out of the mount, cut some corners of the slide and remount it in the right way. That way no one will notice that the original was tilted. May I also suggest using a tripod with a build-in leveler? It really works...
  5. Hi Loree,

I have been to most of the parks you mentioned in september 2000. Here are some suggestions, escpecially for landscape photography.

    - From Banff townsite drive north, then onto the Bow Valley Parkway. This is a very beautiful scenic road with highlights like Moose meadows and Castle mountain. After about 32 miles this road leads you back on the main Icefields parkway. Here you can choose to return to Banff or drive towards Lake Louise. Just don't miss this road....!

    - Kootenay is also nice, you have some great views at the river and the mountains driving south towards the miette hot springs.

    - At the Athabasca glacier: I hiked up onto Wilcox pass, opposite of the glacier. Here you have a decent view of the glacier and the mountains surrounding it.

For a look at some of the shots made during this trip, check out my portfolio:

    Enjoy !

  6. Thanks all for giving me feedback! I have read the article in www.vividlight.com and I am now almost convinced of buying the Tokina lens. The remark of it's vignetting when 'wide open' will I think diminish by using the 2x TC. Please tell me if I am wrong in this view. Also my apologies for my english. (Yes, I'm dutch...)
  7. Hi Chun, why the f2.8 over the f4 ? Only one answer: light conditions! I have been in the field many times with my present 400mm f5.6 + 1,4TC and stood there in vain, waiting for light to improve to get at least a decent shot of an animal. You wouldn't want a slow shutterspeed, because animals have a tendency to move.. which results in unsharpness. So f2.8 coupled with 2x TC will provide me with as much light as possible.
  8. For my nature trips I am looking to buy a 300mm f2.8 lens. I narrowed

the field down to 2 choiches: 1. Sigma 300mm f2.8 EX and 2. Tokina

300mm f2.8 ATX-II Pro. Does anyone have experience 'in the field'

with the lenses mentioned? If you do, please give me some feedback.

The favourable lens right now is the Tokina, because of the slightly

better ratings for image quality in some (independent??) reviews. I

also want to buy me a 2x pro converter. Suggestions anyone ??
