I am in the process of restoring several wooden 8x10 film holders,
and I would ask followers of this forum What to use for replacing the
light traps?

Hi Tim,
From one TA to another,
I recently replaced my ground glass for my Century 8x10 and needed to trim the corners for the air passing through the bellows. What worked for me was using a rotary tool (dremel) using the cutting wheel attachment .The speed was set to the no2 setting which is one of the slower speeds.Even with a light touch it did a great job. one added benefit was that the glass got almost red hot and the enges didn't need to be rounded for a sharp edge.
Hope this helps, regards

Hi Mat'
When you go to the dry goods store for the cloth be sure to hold it up to see how much light comes through from the store lights. You might also want to consider the outer layer to be rain proof. I have long strips of velcro on mine.
Happy shooting

I need to know if when replacing a ground glass for my old 8x10 (it's
the original sand blasted type and 1/16th in thick )do i need to be
concerned about the thickness of the ground glass or not? Would the
more standard 1/8 in thick glass be ok?
