  1. I love it! The back of the man wearing the bowler hat and long jacket just makes it so recognizable as a Magritte, even as a thumbnail! I did a tribute to Magritte myself a couple years ago in my portfolio called "Ceci n'est pas une femme." I love the way you can look through the canvas into the trees and sky. What a paradox. Loving it!

I am a tremendous fan of chickens and roosters. :-) feel that you got this shot spot-on except for the blur in the wattles below the beak that my eye is drawn to immediately -- was that from motion or is the DOF really shallow?

Bay Ridge!!! B64 bus line!!!! Yayyy!!!! (I live in the middle of nowhere in TX now where I have to call 911 about cows in the middle of the highway...I kid you not.)

Ok, totally off topic, but I like it. The only thing I don't like is the orange shirt fighting for attention with the thrown away toy box in the trash. Did you take this on 4th avenue and 86th street, near the KayBee toys?

    Love it! Makes me homesick.

How do you do the sketchy effect without ruining the details and maintaining a photolike quality? It is intriguing.

    Baby Macaw

          3

My baby macaw, Qwerty, modeled for this picture. I am hoping that this

will accentuate the tiny details that make even the most beautiful of

critters what they are. I appreciate your critiques. Thank you!

If you didn't say it was their daughter, I would have been like "Oh, well I guess the guest who was the parent of this child will think it's a cute memento from so-and-so's wedding." The fact it IS the bride and groom's child makes it great because the composition makes a great bridge between the union of the man and his wifey. :-)

I adore these brilliant sweet critters :D

I recognized what it was immediately which gave me a little jump for joy :D

I like the composition. The little bit of a reflection in the eye gives it so much life...I can see the happy grin on the Hyacinth Macaw's face just from the eye. And, I love the detail!

I like the concept. It reminds me of a 1980's Britpop album cover. I would like to see this without the notepad, also. It would look great in a black and white finish, also. :)

Why is she kicking the butterfly? Just kidding, lol.

I agree with the comment above -- minus the big butterfly....

I love the colors and the tones. The composition is awesome. You really showcased the model and the dress beautifully.

    Attitude

          2

I like it. I didn't really pick up an "attitude" (at least not a bad attitude :-) ) to be honest, but the angles and the pose suit her and her appearance. The thumbnail of this picture is interesting because it looks like she's pointing in two different directions, giving her a standoffish appearance...almost like asking an apathetic stranger for directions on a dark, stormy night. :-)

I find the necklace slightly distracting and I might clone/erase it out but I could just be nitpicky. lol

She is a very interesting looking person to photograph!

    Eye on Luna

          3

I think I will be doing more shots of pets over time to get a portfolio. I

have 8 of my own. This is Luna, aka "Fat Lulu Butt." She is nearly 3

years old and is a Congo African Grey. She lives with her friend, Olive, a

Timneh African Grey, whom she has re-named "OlliOlliOlliOlliOlli."

I took this shot, desaturated it to black and white (though you'd hardly

notice with an African Grey, haha) and then brought her bright yellow

eye back in. Does this work for you, or should I put her eye back to

    greyscale?

Do you like the composition, or is it too tight? I tried to get the feeling of

coyness, because she's a tease and she knows she's beautiful. (You'd

have to see the way she blushes at herself in the mirror and purrs at her

    reflection, lol!)

How do you feel about the content and layout of this image? Do the

subdued colors suit the general weather of the day? What do you

generally think of this image? Thanks.

    Hola!

This little guy was just chilling in my father's pineapple plant. I got lots

of shots of him. What do you think of the colors and the composition? Is

    the spidey sharp enough?

    I loooove the colors!

I saw the thumbnail in the "request critiques" area and I was blown away by the colors! Awesome!

I like the way you carried the purples from the sky to the field.
