I have an Elan II and a Pentax K-1000. The Pentax came with a Vivitar
225 Auto Thyristor flash. It seems to work with the Elan but I do not
know what else I need to know about the flash. On the front there is
a switch with 3 settings. In the middle is "M" (manual?). On the left
side is a blue dot and on the right a red dot. What do these settings
refer to?
On the back is a sliding switch that looks like where I set the ISO
speed. It numbers for DIN above the ASA numbers. I am guessing this
calculates the f-stops by refering to the distance in feet. Is this
for when the flash is on Manual setting?
Does the flash meter the exposure seperate from the camera or does it
work with the camera's metering system?
I have to add that this site is a fantastic resource to someone like
myself who is trying to develop and practice the basics to improve to
the next level. I have had many questions answered already and I sure
appreciate the friendly advice and comments.
Thanks!

I just bought a used Elan II and am just getting to know it. I do not
understand what the Depth of Field preview is for. I understand how
to set it up (Custom 4, #2) but do not see what its purpose is or
what I am looking at. Thanks!

I have the opportunity to buy a used EOS 1 or 2 from my sister. I
need to find out how much a camera like this may go for. It is used,
in great condition and has a standard 28-80 lens on it. Any guess on
how much I should pay? Also, any opinion on the camera? I understand
it is a high end consumer camera. Any other suggestions?
Thanks, please e-mail me at marmotfarmer@mindspring.com

Absloutely beautiful. I am trying to get to the level where I can capture such images so I feel a bit envious! I think the title works, possibly due to the subject's body lanquage and posture. It also adds a bit of ambiquity as the picture does seem to hint at hope (sunlight, clouds) but also reveals isolation and departure with its sillouetes and the city skyline off in the unreachable distance.
You may want to find a title that eludes to suicide lik the picure seems to do.
