  1. Trying to separate my physical male comments from my photographic critique comments...

Your body is quite attractive and don't worry about the line in your tummy. Seriously, any partner worthy of having doesn't care about it.

The image would be strengthened if the upper right hand corner was a little less busy. Perhaps a little better separation between your left arm and breast. I'm not sure how to accomplish this, but something to consider.

    The Look

With regard to the photo. The lighting is smooth. The fingers emanating from the back of her head and handrail in the tub are distracting. A white bed sheet could be used to provide a smooth background. With regard to the model.. Piercings, tattoos and hard look on what was a pretty woman. What a waste.

    Lightning Bug

          1

It was a warm and beautiful night vacationing with my extended

family. Dad, Mom, their 4 kids, spouses, and their children. 17

people in all. We were sitting around a campfire, my son playing a

mandolin, one fellow playing the guitar, the owner of the property

playing a dulcimer, and my other son playing a dulcimer for the

first time. Children were catching lighting bugs. What a great

night. We released the lighting bugs at the end of the evening.

This isn't art and it isn't original. Also, the rear of the

lighting bug is a bit out of focus. Comments are welcome, but

please don't rate the photo. I just posted it for folks to see and

    hopefully enjoy.

  2. Nice shot. Nitpics follow. The lighting is just a tad too harsh. The hotspot at the intersection of her forehead and hairline is distracting. Front of her left tennis is dirty. Details matter. Good composition and pretty woman.

Very beautiful woman and nice picture. Perhaps move the white stick? on the ground coming from her right arm. The birch? trees are nice. I wonder how this image would change with a shallower depth of field? Again, this a fine image that both of you should be proud of.

    Dream Time

What Keith said & the ladder? to the left of the nightstand is distracting.

However, the light and subject matter are nice. The same image with only the lamp on the nightstand and a lighter bedspread covering the mattress could be a winner. I hope you have to the chance to reshoot. Keep going!

See her before, a hundred times, in a hundred different places, with a hundred different names. Good people, plain and simple. Do anything for you, can have a good time, but also knows right from wrong. Knows what an honest day's work is. Pays her own way. Will live forever and die with dignity.

Tell me, am I close to describing her?

BTW: Beautiful image in all regards. This is portraiture at its finest.

No comment from me at this time. Only a question.... What did you hope to convey by this portrait? What do you believe you conveyed? Feel free to respond privately.
  3. I like your boldness and willingness to take risks. The 3 white circular spots below the left arm of the model facing us and one to its lower right are distracting. The vertical crease in the fabric to the right of the model facing us is also distracting. The models are beautiful and the posing is nice. I especially like how you have folded the fabric below the model's bottom. Nice effort and I look forward to the development of your work.
  4. On April 27, 2003 the Westboro Church based in Kansas came to spread their message of hate to Granville, Ohio. Thankfully, their message fell on deaf ears. We were targeted because a high school student formed a group where homosexuals and heterosexuals could could together and discuss issues of homosexuality and society. The group isn't a recruiting tool. It is a place for kids to talk.

The hateful group protested in front of the Baptist, Episcopalian, Catholic, Presbyterian, Lutheran, and Methodist churches. The man in the suit on the steps is the pastor of the Methodist church. He is very much against homosexual acts, but even he could not support the action of the Westboro church.

In the 1 1/2 hours I observed the protest, only one person engaged the protesters. He said he stopped because he could not allow the "Thank God for Sept. 11" sign to go unchallenged. The Westboro Church believes that God caused Sept. 11 to happen as punishment for US tolerance of homosexuality.

Other images from the protest can be seen here.
