It has nice contrast and his pose is eye-catching. I'd like to see a looser crop at the bottom so his feet aren't cut off.
-
The background is rather messy and the wrinkles in his vest are unattractive. Also, it appears to be cropped too tightly.
-
On the technical side it looks underexposed and lacking in contrast. Also, the background is kind of a mess. There need to be hilights in the eyes. Esthetically, it reflects a closeness between these two that is not at all common amongst people in that age group.

I think this image required a tripod.
-
If it is in fact your very first picture from your very first camera then you did all right. Keep taking pictures and learn all you can from PN, it'll make you a better photographer.

This is a remarkably mundane and unoriginal photograph. I'm very suprised to see it in this venue.
-
Hell, I think their behinds look at LEAST as good as their faces!!

I hope he didn't come out of the water after you. These guys are nasty, they kill lots of people in Africa every year, right behind the crocs.

A man this old from Latvia was most likely there during WWII when the Jews were gathered up and taken off to concentration camps. Is he a Jew? Is he one who participated in their capture? What role did he play? This photo creates a lot of unanswered questions.

I like how you cropped it nice and tight, and the colors are really dynamic. I wouldn't want to go swimming in this guy's pool!!
-
I think that little touch of blue in the background is really the jewel in the crown!
-
That little bitty boat out there really makes one see just how puny we are in comparison to nature. Jeeze, I'd be heading for home at warp speed!

Hey Tom, I was over at the coast last weekend and I didn't see ANYTHING like this! Are you sure these were taken in California?!
-
You don't want to try this in Texas!!

Suddenly, dying don't seem too awfully bad!!!

This is not significantly different from thousands of other flower photos posted here and other E-Net venues. It takes zero creativity to just stick your lens into the face of a flower and shoot away.

This is a teriffic image, I'd just like to see the tower on the left cloned out. The limited pallette is the key here.

Being a naturally suspicious person, I look at this image and I'm thinking "This ain't no photograph". And then I see that you used a flash and I'm ask'n "Where the heck is the shadow from the flash?". I think you either worked this sucker over so bad in PS that it no longer looks like a photo, or else it wuzzn't no photo from the git go.
-
Hey, a lot of people would just hang it up after taking a photo this good, figuring they's never be able to match it ever again!
-
I've been looking at photos for almost 60 years and this is one of a small handfull of lightening pictures that I'd rate "outstanding". Its VERY dramatic and there's just no way I'd ever be able to pass it without taking another look.

You've taken animal portraiture to a new lever. I'm not sure just WHAT level it is, but it for sure is a new level!

The ship really deminishes the workers, I think that's very effective.

If you didn't work this over in PS I'd call it a 5 star image.
