I like the idea, but am not convinced by the execution. There is a lot of detail in the tree, but not in the moon. The branches from the tree on the right spoil the symmetry for me. Using the mirror effect gives the perfect reflection and makes the partial tree more intrusive.

The moss deals with the "nice bird, ugly twig" problem perfectly.
I hadn't really noticed the softness of the bird until I read the posts, but I think the contrast of the soft bird and the crisp moss is very appealing. At least it works for me.
