I found some cheap $198 1 GB sandisk card are they reliable?

I'm looking for more compact flash cards to fullfill my D60 raw
needs. now I don't need the fastest card they make, just 512MB or
1GB, the cheapest ones... and please don't say ebay I had enough
with that place. Thanks

I have been using for just over a year and its been good so far. Only some grinding noise when I move the lens after AF, this however does not affect the outcome of the pictures. Just a plan annoying sound.

I'm living in NYC right now so I guess I can give you a few tips.
ChinaTown: this is one of the best place to take photographs. I've been there so many times and everytime I go there I find something interesting and new to photograph.
people fighting in the street.
the supermarket.
just the general area can get you a lot of different pictures. Have a look if you go there.

I only use 3 modes
AV, TV, and M.
that is all you need. No, for M is all you need for some.

I don't like B&H. They are only good if you know what your looking for. They gave me a strange look when I went there to try out the lenses they have. How do you expect me to buy lenses if you don't want me to try?? not only once but twice this had happen. They need better customer service if they want my business.
I highly recommand you go some place else if you want any "help' from them.

I shoot mainly with Digital (D60). Other lenses I own are: 50 f1.8 II, 70-200 F4L, and of course 28-135 IS.
If I get rid of the 28-135 I will still have must of this range cover. I always find 28mm a little too long on the stuff that I shoot. Perhaps that's why I want to go wider.
-
first off, the 50mm is not a must have lens. I know a lot of people who don't have such lens.
Why not a faster zoom? I guess we all know the answer, zoom is a compromise. You give up a little quality to get more range on a single lens.
Must people own a 50mm because:
1. its really cheap. the f1.8 II is only $70! and its sharper than the 28-135 IS.
2. they like it in that range not too wide and not to long.
3. People consider it to be in a normal range (that's so subjective)
the 83mm and 100mm is more of a portrait lens than anything to most people. While you can still use the 50mm in tight spaces.
With that said its all up to you. Rather you get it or not. Try it on your 28-135, set it to 50mm and shoot it all day...

I'm thinking about selling my 28-135 and replace it with a sigma
14mm f2.8. I have most range in the 28-135 cover with my current set
up so I don't really have any use for it at the moment. Yes its a
great walkaround lens but I carry another lens 90% of the time. And
I really dislike the extend barrel design found in the Canon 28-
135mm.
Now How is the quality with the Sigma 14 2.8 compare to the 28-135?
I read the reivews in the reviews section and still can't decide if
the sigma 14mm 2.8 is that much sharper.
I will have to squeeze about $400 for this sigma (its going for
about $790 for the 14mm f2.8 online) after I sell my 28-135 so I
really want to know if its worth it.
Quality control is one of the major concern that I have with Sigma.
Canon lesnes are perferable but they cost a little too much for me
(I'm broke being a college student and only have a part time job).
Really want a wide angle lens to get shoots in a tight space and
such.
P.S. I'm also looking into the Sigma AF 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 EX DG
Aspherical...the 12mm is tempting...hmmm. Also I'll love to have the
Inner focusing systemwhich will keep the length of the lens unchange
when your zooming around.
Any comments will be helpful.

ok I have a D60 and a Elan 7, the view finder in my Elan 7 looks very
big/bright compare to the D60. My next upgrade will only happen when
a digital camera can have at least as big and bright a view finder as a
Elan 7. anyone?

get the 50 f/1.8 as your first lens! its cheap and sharp!
I'm not exactly sure what you mean by on one f stop. The 50mm f/1.8 can go from 1.8 to 22 just fine...
mirror getting stunk half way after a year of storage...
in Canon EOS Mount
Posted
I took out my Elan 7 after storing it almost a year ago. The mirror
got stunk half way on the first test shoot that I took. Then stunk
again the second time. Then I took out the film and turn off the
camera and adjust everything...still the samething. then again I
took out the film and readjust everything, and it finally started to
work again (mirror operating normally at this point).
Now, anybody ever experience this with their camera? I'm somewhat
afraid to use it now because i do not want it to fail like that with
a almost complete roll of film. That failure can also means that I
might miss a picture of a life time. Anyways what could be the cause
of this? The battery icon blinks several times but the battery isn't
dead.
Can I still trust my Elan 7?
