  1. I took out my Elan 7 after storing it almost a year ago. The mirror

got stunk half way on the first test shoot that I took. Then stunk

again the second time. Then I took out the film and turn off the

camera and adjust everything...still the samething. then again I

took out the film and readjust everything, and it finally started to

work again (mirror operating normally at this point).

Now, anybody ever experience this with their camera? I'm somewhat

afraid to use it now because i do not want it to fail like that with

a almost complete roll of film. That failure can also means that I

might miss a picture of a life time. Anyways what could be the cause

of this? The battery icon blinks several times but the battery isn't

    dead.

Can I still trust my Elan 7?

  2. I'm living in NYC right now so I guess I can give you a few tips.

ChinaTown: this is one of the best place to take photographs. I've been there so many times and everytime I go there I find something interesting and new to photograph.

    people fighting in the street.

    the supermarket.

just the general area can get you a lot of different pictures. Have a look if you go there.

  3. I don't like B&H. They are only good if you know what your looking for. They gave me a strange look when I went there to try out the lenses they have. How do you expect me to buy lenses if you don't want me to try?? not only once but twice this had happen. They need better customer service if they want my business.

I highly recommand you go some place else if you want any "help' from them.

  4. first off, the 50mm is not a must have lens. I know a lot of people who don't have such lens.

Why not a faster zoom? I guess we all know the answer, zoom is a compromise. You give up a little quality to get more range on a single lens.

Must people own a 50mm because:

    1. its really cheap. the f1.8 II is only $70! and its sharper than the 28-135 IS.

    2. they like it in that range not too wide and not to long.

    3. People consider it to be in a normal range (that's so subjective)

the 83mm and 100mm is more of a portrait lens than anything to most people. While you can still use the 50mm in tight spaces.

With that said its all up to you. Rather you get it or not. Try it on your 28-135, set it to 50mm and shoot it all day...

  5. I'm thinking about selling my 28-135 and replace it with a sigma

14mm f2.8. I have most range in the 28-135 cover with my current set

up so I don't really have any use for it at the moment. Yes its a

great walkaround lens but I carry another lens 90% of the time. And

I really dislike the extend barrel design found in the Canon 28-

    135mm.

Now How is the quality with the Sigma 14 2.8 compare to the 28-135?

I read the reivews in the reviews section and still can't decide if

the sigma 14mm 2.8 is that much sharper.

I will have to squeeze about $400 for this sigma (its going for

    about $790 for the 14mm f2.8 online) after I sell my 28-135 so I

really want to know if its worth it.

Quality control is one of the major concern that I have with Sigma.

Canon lesnes are perferable but they cost a little too much for me

(I'm broke being a college student and only have a part time job).

Really want a wide angle lens to get shoots in a tight space and

    such.

P.S. I'm also looking into the Sigma AF 12-24mm f/4.5-5.6 EX DG

Aspherical...the 12mm is tempting...hmmm. Also I'll love to have the

Inner focusing systemwhich will keep the length of the lens unchange

    when your zooming around.

    Any comments will be helpful.
