Thanks John --
I hope there is a fix. I've been pleased with Picture Window over the years. I will follow you over there.

OK.....
That seems to be the procedure -- open and save in a PS product.
Thanks to Jon for his help.

Thanks Jon --
That was good thinking. I will see what other method I might use for resizing. I appreciate your help.

The photo below is sized 511x393 pixels and is contained in jpeg file
totalling 37,848 bytes. Note that I have entered a caption. I used
Picture Window, a respected alternative to PS, to size the original
scan to Photo.net specs, I think. I HAVE read all the instructions I
can find on this site.
I will appreciate suggestions about what to try next to post

It still doesn't work for me. The image was downsized to 72 dpi, 500 pixels on the longest edge. The file size is 37,848 bytes.
I'd appreciate your suggestions.

Hey Per --
Do you large format guys get BOKEH with those things?

In addition to the above well chosen books, I wish to add one on the general subject: "Art & Fear -- Observations On The Perils (and Rewards) of ARTMAKING" by David Bayles and Ted Orland, 1993 Capra Press. I think it is an excellent companion to Bruce Barnbaum's excellent writing.

Well, if you'd rather drink the Starbucks you can soup your film with tea. Detailed instructions appear in the July/August edition of Photovision Magazine in an article by Dr. M. J. Vajed.
Me? I'll stick to Zinfandel and Pyro, thanks.

One good source for understanding this period in Weston's life is the book "Through Another Lens: My Years with Edward Weston." Written in 1998 by Charis Wilson, his second wife, the book rounds out our view of Weston the man. It is a good read.
I am making a giant leap here, but his relationship with Charis was coming un-glued during the war period and this could have been one more problem contributing to his reduced productivity.

I just completed a shopping trip to the local artist's supply store for a pen for the same purpose. Kuretake Company LTD of Japan puts out a gazillion different colors of pigment ink pens that are supposedly acid-free, archival, lightfast, waterproof and non-bleeding. The pen has a 0.5mm tip at one end and a 1.2mm tip at the other. I tested them on the white border of a test photograph and they look just great. There is a brand logo on the pen "ZIG Memory System" and "Conforms to ASTM D-4236" whatever that means.
Good luck --

Per and Harvey put on a great show and participants themselves contribute great vision and experience to these free gatherings. I am very pleased to help with arrangements.
