1. How about a 18"f3.5? Long focus and a fast aperature. Might not cover 8x10, but might work with a rebuilt Speed Grahic. There are five for sale on Ebay. Do a search for Beseler...
  2. Hi,

Sometime back in the 90's, Shutterbug ran an article about putting the 55mm on a 2x3 graflex. The auther said the lens would cover 6x7, but I forget how far he had to stop it down. Good thing about the 55mm is that it is a reverse telephoto, and will give you added clearence between the standards.

  3. To date, I bought a Cannon A80 to pictures of my wifes craft projects

and kept all my old nikon bodies and lens for personal stuff. After

30 years you can collect a few (or alot). I guess my problem is I

really love the look I get from my old lens shot wide open with their

narrow depth of field. And then the D200 (AI mount compatable) has

    come at the same time my filmscanner dies. The D200 sounds so close;

Except for the full frame. Anyone think there might be a D200s in the

future. Or is this just a call from the Darkside while I'm getting

ready to purchase more film and a nother scanner.

  4. I am looking for a digital camera to take pictures of my wife's soap,

roundtopsoap.com, and to use as a personal camera. Tethered operation

where I could operate the camera's controls (focus, color bal,

aperure, Histogram, etc.) from a computer would be great. I have seen

a couple of articles onthe Canon A70-A80. (They use easy to find AA

bateries when your on vacation). Has anyone used one teathered to a

computer? What control do you have?

  5. I think its a cool idea. I bought a Nikon 'BR3' on Ebay. It has the female lens mount and the 52mm female threads. I've been waiting until I had time to drive into houston and purchase a 52mm Cokin filter ring. I want to mount it on an old Ansco 6x6 camera (with shims to get range focusing). Instead of a shutter, I was just going to use nd filters and small aperatures to extend exposure times.

So you get a 43mm or larger round image.

  6. Dependng on your photographic direction, a TLR could be a waste of time, money and effort or a low cost boon. I currently love the wide angle effects of a 20-24mm on my 35mm camera and the Mamiya dosen't have have that capibility. I also like doing closeups with 70-300 and a doplier, a TLR, even a Mamiya with its bellows isn't all that doing that.

But if you don't mind the limits of a 28 to 135mm equiv. lens (ie the 55 to the 250) and using a trypod to do landscapes and people, the Mamiya C3/C33/C330 can be a blast. If you want to do porttrature with flash, the lens sink at all speeds. And compaired to a SLR (atleast with the RB I tried) TLR's are pretty quiet. Unfortunatly mine's been parked on a shelf for three years sence the loss of a spare room to use as a darkroom.

For MF pinhole, try looking for a nonfunctional Afga or Ansco speedex on Ebay, $15-25. Trash the bellows/lens/door and add a pinhole (current project).

  7. Any suggestions on where to send or take a FT3 for CLA and repair? I

have 2 with the same problem. On both, part of the circular crome

contact in the battery compartment has broken off. I live near

    Houston Tx. Thanks

  8. Hi,

I have a Walzburg Horizontal camera. It has a 16' bed, 12' bellows,

elect. Packard shutter, remote powered rise/fall/shift, rotating lens

turret, Front/back lit remote operated movable stage, several boxes

of outdated lith film, but no lens. I picked it up on ebay about 2

years ago and it was fully operational. We disassembled it and put it

into storage. Unfortunatly, I have changed directions, so it has sat,

and I now need to get rid of it.

The base format is 30"x40". The copy stand is front lit by 4 halogen

lights and back lit with 7 three foot florescent lights. The vacuum

plate is 42"x32" and made of 1/2" plate aluminum (and yes, you get a

vaccuum to power it); there are 2-3 boxes of 20x24 lith film; 5 or 6

halftone screens; two boxes of smaller lith film; the lens turret has

three positions (360mm, 600mm, 890mm), NO LENS; Packard shutter is 7"

sq. with a 3 1/2 opening; the largest items (the rails) are 15'8"

    long; the bellows is 12'long x 13"x16" x 33"x43".

When assembled it is 17' long, 6' tall, and 4 1/2' wide. It will need

a few cans of paint to look new, but as of when I bought it,

everything worked, the switches, timers, lites, shutter, rise, fall,

shift, etc. worked, bellows looked good with a couple af extra

wrinkles (but no worn corners, tears or patches; rear glass focusing

panel, stage glass look good; etc there's even a toolbox with a few

spare parts. I don't think it would ship very well. It needs someone

with a 16' enclosed trailer. and a couple of strong backs to load it.

I live near LaGrange TX,78954. It is free to a good home (just so

long as you take all of it). If you are interested, please contact

    me at ejschwarzjr@hotmail.com or (979) 249-3060 between 7-10 pm

    central time

  9. I went with the Stat camera idea. You can pick them up on on ebay for

    $50 and up. I purchared a Walsburg with 3 lens and a 32x40 vacuum

plate for $200 last year. The origional owner had lost his lease

after 20 years and had 3 days left to remove from the building when I

showed up. Only problem is it weighs about 1000 pounds and needs

about a 24' long room to fit in. Anyone have a guess what a 12'x

    32"x45" bellows might be worth?

  10. Hi,

I pulled my Wollensak Velostigmat Wide Angle Ser.III 6 1/4 F 9.5 out of my bag yesterday and noticed what looks like condensation between the lens elements. I have removed the two lens element sets from the shutter. Are the indivual elements glued together or can they be seperated and cleaned? Right now I've got the element sets next to a 100w spot light trying to maybe make the moisture evaporate (hope its moisture). I haven't found any way to remove the elements from their mounts. Any ideas how to clean the lens or dry it out? Thanks

  11. I have a Kowa 480f5.3 and a noname 360f4 barrel lens' mounted on lensboards for a Calumet C1. I have never shot the camera or lens as both lens have no shutter or aperature. Last week I found out that 4"sewer pipe caps work great as lens caps. Sense then I have bought a shutter on Ebay; I can mount it on a "lens cap" and plan to use it both as a shutter and as aperature control. The shutter has a "30 mm throat", giving me a f16 or f11 wide open shooting aperature. Both lens' are about 4.5" long. I would like tofocus the lens wide open (without the lenscap/shutter) and then use the slideon shutter/aperature to shoot. Will the slideon shutter/aperature cause any focus shift?
  12. I have a Meridian B with the square lens board. It is a little cruder

than a Graphlex, but it has a rotating spring back mounted on movable

pins(that extend out upto 1 3/8") to give you some rear swing and

tilt. T he front has has some front/rear tilt and shift movementss.

The max bellows extension is about 12 1/2", and 14" if you extend out

the back. If you need aditional lens boards, you can make them out of

model airplane plywood (or buy one for a Calumet C400). It also has a

secondary focusing track inside the body so you can use a 65mm, but

mine atlease, had no locking mech. on the secondary rail. The down

side is finding replacement parts and a noninterchangable bellows.

Also the threads on the screws I've lossed and replaced had American

threads (ie not metric). I'm not sure what it weighs.

I do wish it had a graphlock back so I could use grachmatic film

holders and 120 film backs; also wish it had the same wideangle

    focusing system as the Graphic.

    Hope it helps..

  13. Rots of Ruck! Over the last 6 years I've purchased 4 or 5 Apo

nikkors, a Packard #8 shutter and a Calumet 'green monster' as a

hopeful project if the honeydo's ever slack up. The only written

information I ever found was a one page blurb in a book listing the

various focal lengths Nikon made the Apo Nikkor in. The longest ones

    were 1210mm and 1800mm. A 1210mm sold a couple of years ago for $8-

    900 on ebay. Good luck.

  14. What is the differance between EL Nikkors, Apo Nikkors (f9 varity

usally found on ebay), and 'Apo El Nikkors' (f5.6). Nikon seems to to

have produced a varity of lens (including a FAX Nikkor), but has

anyone seen a referance describing the intended use or potential

    capibilities of each type lens?
