  1. <p>After using an M4 and M6 for about 40 years (with Summicrons of 28,35,50 and an Elmarit 90), mainly because of the price of the M8 I got a Nikon D300 2 years ago with 35/1.8, 50/1.4 and 17-55/2.8. I am considering buying a second hand M8.2 to be able to use my excellent Leica glas. My main subjects are city-/landscapes and grandchildren.<br>

    My questions are:<br />1- What Leica lenses should I keep or exchange? (maybe swapping Elmarit 90 with Biogon 21/4.5?)<br />2- Should I keep the D300 as a family shoot camera?<br />3- Which Nikon lenses would you keep in this case?<br>

    Money is of course a limitation.<br>

  2. I am considering to buy the 25/2.8 Distagon for my d300. As I am used to mf from my Leica m6 mf is not an issue. Would

    like to have your opinion on (a) the necessity to swap the standard focusing screen for a Katz or other mf screen? (b) can

    you rely on the dof scale on the lens and use the hyperfocus method?

    Would use this lens as a more portable walk around lens to complement my 17/55 2.8 and 50/1.4. Thanks for your thoughts.

  3. Just got a d300 + 17/55 and would need your advise on an additional walk around lens as the 17/55 is a hell to move around

    since I am used to a Leica M. I am thinking about a 2.8/24. Thanks for your thoughts.

  4. Would be interested to know what are your guestimates about the future prices

    of our m's. If we assume the m8 is successfull and a dignified replacement for

    the film m's how many of you will keep shooting film? I expect prices for film

    m's will drop significantly. If B&W and wet darkroom is important to you I just

    got the information that the Leica Academy in Solms dropped their B&W lab work

    shops/seminars. Is this indicating that for Solms film is already dead?

  5. I am Still not convinced of going digital and looking at the current prices of

    M7 and the new ZI RF I feel very much atracted to the ZI. Do you have any

    relevant experience or thoughts about making a side step to ZI? Is the shutter

    lag of the ZI comparable to the M7.

  6. Against the expert advice of Al Kaplan I bought Portra 160 and 400 NC

    to shoot a wedding in France. I normally use Reala or Superia 200 and

    my normal proflab always delivered decent results. But the Portra

    prints were realy substandard and I feel very frustrated. I concluded

    never to waste money again on professional film. Any similar

    experiences or can one expect outstanding results from Portra or

    should I try another lab?

  7. Have Leica M6 + M3 and 4 lenses(28,35,50,90)for shooting a wedding

    next month. Would you stick to just one sort of film (color or B&w)

    or mix both? If you mix - how do you mix - what is your set-

    up/combo? Thanks for your suggestions and ideas.

  8. Have Minilux + M6 with 2/28,2/35,2/50,2.8/90 lenses and very happy

    with all. Would you spend money to body, say 6ttl(0.85) or the new

    2/75? Do quite some weddings for friends but buying both is not

    possible. What would you recommend? Thanks for your ideas/comments.

  9. Before deciding to buy the summilux 75 I would be gratefull to have

    an answer on the following questions: 1)When was the production of

    this lens stopped in Canada and transferred to Solms? 2)Is there a

    difference in quality of both lenses? 3)Is there a difference in used

    prices for mint lenses of the two production series? 4) Is there any

    other difference between both lenses except the weight? Thanks for

    your answers.
