  1. Same thing happened to my 188A. If you still have the pieces, crazy

glue works very well. If not, then buy another flash. I bought the

used 199A for $99 instead. It's a better flash anyway.

You would think the manufacturer would learn that the hot shoe design

isn't very rigid to handle slight abuses by now...but guess they'll

    never learn.

  2. Did you know that dedication can be maintained with the 199A and AE1-P using the Syn Cord A2? I've tried it and it worked great! I don't know if other flash, like the 299T, will work too...does anyone know?
  3. I want to use an external battery pak for my Canon 199A for faster recycle time. I am also looking to buy used. Does anyone have any suggestion?...Please be as specific as you can, such as adapter name/manufacturer/model#, etc. & where to find such stuff.

  4. I would like to move my Cannon 199A flash off the camera to avoid having red eyes. I need to buy a Sync Cord A, which B&H has for sale. However, I am a very newbiew to the AE-1P & 199A system that I have. I wonder if the dedication is lost when I move the flash off camera. In other words, I get the f/stop from the camera's viewfinder after attaching the flash. Will I be able to do this still after I move the flash off the hot shoe?

  5. I have a Canon 199A flash unit. Upon firing, a green light appears to indicate the proper exposure was calculated by the camera's computer. However, the flash stop charging for the next flash. I have to turn the flash off, wait a few seconds, then turn it back on to recharge.

Is this a mechanical problem with the flash or is it normal?

In a related question, why doesn't the green light lights up everytime I fire the flash, in auto mode with the f-stop indicated in the view-finder?

Any suggestions greatly appreciated. Many thanx ahead.
