Thanks Brooks. There is a link within the article for a Bokeh story
with photos if anyone is interested.

I'll make a click-able link for the Noct' article...<a

I think that the older generation of Leica lights had better bokeh,
but caused more flare.

I hope nobody starts a thread about how Nikon lights can't hold a
candle (pun intended) to the Leica lights. ;-)

it is possible that your Vivitar lens was in fact a Nikon mount, but
an early pre-AI version. Your EM camera requires AI or AIS lenses,
including autofocus models which can be used as a manual focus lens.

Older used manual focus lenses for Nikon are readily availible at
great prices in any decent camera store. mail order is fine, but a
real hands-on test in a store is worth the extra couple of dollars...
not to mention that you walk out with the lens that day.

NHP,

The older pre-Aspheic is 26mm from flange, while the newer model is
34.5mm.

I don't know about the best source for used gear, I use Tamarkin,
simply based on some very good experiences from them.

Please note, the weight of the Chrome lenses are heavier than the
black models... if this is important to you. For example, the
aspheric 35mm Summicrons are 255g for the black and 340g for the
chrome. the pre-aspheric lenses have a similer differential, but I
only know the weight for the black one which is 190g.

Roger W. Hicks is a Leica user who has a regular feature
in "SHUTTERBUG" magazine... he also authored numerous books on lenses
and other photographic topics. He uses the Contax 21mm lens in a M-
mount. His 21mm Elmarit was stolen in Moscow, and he can't afford to
replace it. He used the Biogen for years... his only critisism is
the speed... or lack of such.

He says it is a modified lens, but I don't know if it was custom or
something that was done in quantity.

I never had a flash on a Leica M, but a similar question came up last
week, so you can see those responses below:
