  1. I just purchased this lens, and below is a link to purchase tupperware style caps for the 500 f4, 400 f4 DO, and 300 f2.8 (the 400 f4 DO, and 300 f2.8 use the same caps):

I have copied and pasted from someone else's site, but I bought these caps and they work great, and are alot lighter than Canon's supplied cap:

Canon Camera 500mm f4 Prime Telephoto Lens Lense Covers Rubber

    $6.50

A pair of NEW plastic covers. These are # F-24-PC, (6.5" overall diameter), and # F-16-PC, (5.5" overall diameter). Canon does not make a lens cap in the traditional way for this lens. What they make is a large leather hooded cover. These container covers clip on like a normal lens cap and will help keep trash out of the lens while moving around shooting. The larger size will fit the hood and the smaller size the actual lens.

These are really direct replacement lids for Corning Ware French White F-24-B and F-16-B round dishes and Visions series 24 ounce casseroles. Microwave oven, refrigerator, and freezer use. These lids are BRAND NEW, and in perfect condition all over.

If you are looking for an alternative lens cap for your Canon 500mmf4 L IS lens then look no further. I found a post over at Photo.net saying that the Corningware lid F-24-PC would fit over the hood and lid F-16-PC

Here's my complete list of known alternative caps.

Note, some go on over the front of the lens itself, some go on over the front of the HOOD

  2. rather than run yourself ragged, pick one nice tee, preferably the most scenic. Every foursome will have to pass this one tee, especially if there is a shotgun start. I would recommend the tee vs the green, as player's faces may be happier before they tee off vs after they walk off the green. Also there is more wait time at the tee.
  3. I really got used to push/pull for sports, and it is really a compact lens when pushed all the way in. Here is a shot (not full resolution) shot from the stands in a poorly lit stadium with the 100 - 400 canon 1DMKII, 1600 ASA

    http://www.pghhotshots.com/footballprvshampton10-1-04/pages/JR5P0034.htm

and another shot from the stands to the end zone

http://www.pghhotshots.com/footballprvshampton10-1-04/pages/JR5P0004.htm. They both blew up nicely to 8 x 10

  4. I use a 1D MKII, 100 - 400 Canon IS at 1200 - 1600 ASA with flash on Really Right Stuff extension arm to eliminate red eye for evening pics - 400 - 800 ASA daylight without flash. The 20D has a slightly larger crop factor.
  5. Canon 1DMkII is not set up to take advantage of WA (write acceleration cards) - I have not had a problem, but I am using 1 G 80x WA cards myself without incident. I was made aware of the problem by a NY dealer. It has to do with the way the camera processes, and WA cards skip some steps. The problem is sporadic, and Canon USA is aware of the problem, but Canon does not claim to be compatible with WA like Nikon does. from what I have heard from Canon, if you are experiencing this problem, switch cards. That is all I know. Good luck
  6. there is a rare occurance of WA (Lexar) cards not working with Canon cameras, because Canon does not support WA. That being said I originally bought 1 G 40x WA Lexar Cards for my 10D, and am using 1 G 80x WA cards for my 1DMKII without a hitch. There have been a few rare reports of not being able to access images from a full WA card. I usually span images over 6 cards, so I have never actually filled any one card.
  7. I have switched between m6 motor Leicavit and regular bottom plate with a m7, I did not lose any frames, however the first time I did this I lost count of the frames and accidentally tried to go past frame 37 and wondered why the camera jammed.
  8. While I await a EOS 1D-MKII, I was told of focusing problems by the

dealer - he heard it from 3 of his customers, especially at infinity -

I just would like to know if anyone else has similar experiences as

I was hoping to trade my 10D on a MKII. I have not noticed any posts

on this board. Maybe this is similar to the reported 10D focusing

problem, some seem to have it, others do not. Obviously the dealer

has no reason to delay my purchase. Any input is appreciated. We're

getting quite close to Photokina and maybe I should just wait for a

    10D replacement.

  9. I had a black paint one, but traded back to dealer (Eli Kurland) for black "chrome" which matches my M7 black "chrome". This is a new item, just released in the US over the last few weeks. As far as I am aware there are 4 versions:

chrome, black paint, black chrome and hammertone.
