  1. Is there a date/serial number list for Leica lenses after say, 1984? Can't seem to find one on any of the Leica sites. On a 1950's lens, I can find out what time of the day it was made, and what they had for lunch that day at the factory. With modern lenses, it seems to be impossible to find out anything except a general time-frame by certain lens markings. Does a "modern" date/# list exist? THANKS!
  2. There is a Leica lens for sale right now marked: RARE Orig.Leica M 35mmf1.4 Aspheric. I know this lens was hand made in the early 90's and that they made around 2000 of 'em, but is it really worth a thousand bucks more that the current one? Are the new ones made by robots or something? I need a 35 for my M6 and money (in this rare case)is really no object. I don't want to collect the thing, I want to shoot with it. Anybody have a comment? Ebay waits for no man...
  3. When I bought my M6 titanium from a friend a couple of months ago, it was because of the great price and mint condition, not the finish (although I think it's pretty). I have been using his black 50mm f1.4 Summilux but now it is time to buy my own lenses. I know that this is not (thank God) a forum for Leica collectors and their "collector" reasons for buying anything, but I have to admit, I have developed a liking for all things titanium. I have a handle on a 35 ASPH, 50 and 90 in the big "T" and was wondering about quality. IF these lenses were made in much smaller quantities than the Black (or even Chrome), were they made with perhaps a touch more care? I am actually going to shoot with them, not look at them on a shelf. They cost a LOT more than the regular lenses (now), so I am wondering if it is worth it, not just for possible resale, but for shooting. Any one have a comment? Also, does anyone know the exact quantites made of the four choices (35mm, 35mm ASHP, 50 & 90)? Thanks a bunch!
  4. Gee wiz, this forum is the first one I check in the morning and the

last one I see at night. I've read every single word on it more than

once. It has helped me to pick cameras (M3, M6 Titan.), lenses and

helped me to improve my technique and composition. I am always

impressed by the knowledge of the forum users, and the ease of using

this site. For God's sake, keep her up and running!!!! Thanks, SH

  5. Just purchased (on Ebay, of course), a complete 1955 M3 kit, with 3 lenses and the whole nine yards. This time machine setup even has the hang tag and Leitz lens guarantee. You get the picture. Everything mint-. The 35mm Summaron has no attachment at all. I've been told that this lens (#1258952)was made before the goggles were furnished. In that case, how do you use the lens? Guess? The Army MD that owned this kit was very careful with it and I doubt he would have overlooked this issue. I just don't see how he used the lens. Anyone??? Thanks, Steve Hoffman
