I'm considering buying a Vivitar 19mm lens, mainly because it's about quarter of the price of the Canon FD 20/17mm lenses. I know the optical quality won't be as good as a Canon lens but that apart is the lens a decent buy, anyone have any opinions?

I have an old type F-1; I have read somewhere(?) that removing the base plate to fit the power winder/motor drive can mean the film in the camera gets fogged.(i.e. you can only attach/detach the winder when there is no film in the camera). I can't find a definitive answer as to whether this is true, Anyone out there know for certain?

I've had a T-90 since 1987, it hasn't had a new back-up battery yet
and it's still going strong.

I'd agree with the above answer, in case you don't know the meter
reading is taken only from the central area of the frame (the dark
rectangle). the instructions are on line
at the following http://www.lmrl.lu/cr/ftb/ftbind.htm

Jeremy - thanks for your input, my reasons for considering the Vivitar
were much the same as yours, I'd love a Canon 17mm butjust cannot
justify a Canon lens considering I wouldn't such a wideangle lens that
much......Cheers, Mark.
