  1. I have built two Bender Kits, one my own-the other for a friend, and the quality of the parts is first rate. I would recommend re-enforcing the bolts for tightening the standards on the rail. I used a long threaded rod and two knobs on mine. If you like wood working, this is a great project, but it is fine wood working - like cabinet making. Clamps, fine sandpaper, good finishing materials are a must. I easily spent 80 hrs and about $40.00 on the extras to finsih the camera. THe hardest part was getting the bellows straight on the frame. Because of the nature of its construction, upgrading or modifying the camera is fairly simple.

    Good luck-Mike Baker

  2. Check B & H Photo. If anyone has used digital equipment, they would. Digital backs for 4x5 have only been out a short time (compaired to film acessories) and the next generation is not out yet - so current users are not replacing units for "better" ones. For an alternative, use a "high end" flatbed scanner, save the image on a removable disc (bernoulli or syquest) and have a print shop print it out. This may be less expensive.
  3. Does anyone know the construction of Kodak Anastigmat lenses? I have a 170mm F6.3 and it appears there is an element missing. Were these three or four element lenses? Any information would be appreciated.
