You don't need a big lupe to look at big negs,it just means you get
more magnification,so big isn't always necessary.
-
I got one only a couple of days ago Paul.£400 is very steep!

They are no way near as loud as an SLR drive,I would say about as
loud as an Olympus OM1....without motor.

My theory is that if I need to be very quiet I just turn it off.

Take out that second mortgage Paul and buy one!
-
...and he uses all the best, fastest glass, soooooo,I reckon he carries
around about £30,000 maybe £40,000(50 or 60 thousand $us?)worth of
gear around all day!
-
James,I don't get it either!

He uses only one film too,T-max400 nothing else.He says that 6 M
bodies with lenses attached weighs about the same as a 2 nikon and
zooms outfit,so I don't think it's a weight thing.He is very fussy
about dirt,so maybe by never changing lenses he won't get dirt behind
the lens? He also says, and I think this does stand true,if he has the
lenses attached then he never has to worry about changing lenses(on
the back and the top of each body he has the focal length of the lens
painted)and with the same film in all 6 cameras this would be a very
quick way of working.

I have to say that he never has ALL 6 cameras around his neck,he
selects 3 at the most for that particular shooting situation and
leaves the others in a bag close by.

35mm 1.4 and 50mm 1.4.

I work with a photographer who has always used Leica M,he has a rule.

NEVER,EVER take your lenses off. When he buys a new lens he buys a
body to go with it.He currently uses 24mm,28mm,75mm all with an M4-p
attached and 35mm,50mm and 90mm all matched with M6 classics.

If only we could all afford to do that!
-
"I'm sure there are also "agents" who will sign unproven
photographers for a fee, as well, but a healthy dose of caveat emptor
is probably appropriate"

Ralph, that is very true and VERY important.

Craig,if any 'agent'offers to take you on for a fee just walk
away,zip-up your portfolio and decline.
-
Craig, there is only one way to find an agent and it's called
footwork. When I was looking for an agent here in England I packed up
my portfolio in a sturdy leather case and went around nearly every
agency in the south of England.

You can be sure that if you aren't good enough, and I'm not saying you
aren't,they will tell you.Be prepared for rejection and know that if
you are accepted it will be by the last agent you visit! I saw 39
agents in a week and it was the very last one I went to that was
interested. They won't say yes there and then,so make sure you have a
mobile phone and take it everywhere with you(even to the 'smallest
room' in the house!).

So,don't sit around and hope that you will be 'discovered',this
rarely,if ever happens.

Good luck.
-
Yep,you are correct.It has x0.75 mag'n.........oh well,that's that
theory blown out of the window!
-
I used a Nikon F5 which has 100% mag'n
-
No Harry,I'm glad I asked,we got some interesting answers.

So,the answer could be anything between 15mm and 90mm

I put a zoom lens(24-120)on an SLR last night and zoomed in and out
with both eyes open until the viewfinder image seen with my right
eye 'matched' my left eye. They came together at about 45mm.I like to
know if everyone gets the same result?
-
I reckon 35mm lux' at about 1.7 on XP2 film?
-
I just had a look at the folder too.Just great! I love that style of
photography.
-
Lutz,Lutz,Lutz....I like that ALOT.

Superb DOF,exellent exposure and perfect framing.

Next please.....and it will take some beating.
-
Another thing I'd like to get sorted out is this.

Which do you think is closest to the 'view'of the human eye.35mm or 50mm????

Or,is it neither? I think it's about 42mm
-
I going to wait and see if any are worse than mine!
-
Hello chaps.

I'd like to see your one favorite photo taken on Leica M and 35mm lens.

O.K?

Get it sorted'
-
But Rob,everything was set to manual,so the results from both cameras
should be consistant?
-
I don't know in that case Jacob?

This is a job for the more technically minded members of the
forum......
-
Was EVERYTHING on the cameras and lenses set to manual?
-
Don't try to wriggle out of it Giles, you were giving Rob dirty looks
and chatting-up his woman.LEAVE IT OUT!!!!!!!
-
Hey Rob.....I just saw Giles looking at your bird.
-
You know....I've looked at it again and it has a kind of 'first World
War officers issue' look to it.I'm going to have to do a complete U-
turn.I love it.I want one.
-
Andrew.I have never in all my days seen such a hidious looking
article.I can't think why on earth anyone would want one of
these 'things'.Did you take too many drugs one night I think "I
know,I'm going to make a leather gimp mask for my camera and give
everyone on the Leica forum nightmares"??????

Oh God I feel sick.
-
Hi Iikka.I have the latest 35mm 1.4 ASPH and had the same
problem. When in place it is about 2mm lower on on side.I sent mine
back to where I bought it from(Classic camera)and I had a replacement
hood back within 4 days.

I was told that the hoods are made by an independent company for
Leica, which would explain, but not excuse the problem.
How brave do you have to be?
in Leica and Rangefinders
Posted
I was at a Local college this morning doing a talk to the students on photojournalism. After showing some of my portfolio shots one of the students asked,"how brave do you have to be?",I asked what she meant and she pointed out that most of the shots were photographs of people and she wanted to know how I approached the subject.I had to be honest and tell her that I simply asked-"do you mind if I get some photo's".

How do other photographers approach strangers?(I'll be showing some of the answers to the students tommorrow!)
