This is surprising and very interesting. Did Mr. Erwin Puts say
how well the 50mm Heliar lens was likely to work on a Konica
Hexar RF camera? I am thinking about buyinhg a Hexar RF and
wonder if the combination would be awesome?
-
That's a nice looking Rolleiflex in that picture. Is that a 3.5E or
3.5F? It doesn't look like it has a meter, but I guess either one
could come that way.

Sorry, but I am a little confuse by Jeff Spirer's post. What is
Fireside Theatre? Is this an American show? Are you saying
that David Casman is an American celebrity Leica user? I would
be happy to know I read the same Leica forum used by a TV or
movie celebrity!
-
What did you have for supper?
-
Mr. Tony Rowlett, I didn't mean to say that to own Leica you have
to be rich. I own a Leica and a lens, I'm very proud, and I'm not
rich person. Lucky for you to be rich person who can own
cupboards full of Leica cameras and lenses, like so many who
post here, at least that's how they talk.

I don't think I understand what Kirk Tuck said about a "wiley
freinds tweaking me from behind an alias." What does this
mean? I didn't try to insult Kirk Tuck. I now understand that his
macro close up set up with tape and clamps, etc., was clever not
cheap and desperate. Bravo!
-
And how do we know Kirk Tuck isn't pulling a leg with this?
-
Rank=Beginner. OK. Well I'm not beginner either. I understand
the process and understand idea of right tools for job. I'm sorry
to hear that Kirk cannot afford high-tech gear and does not live
glamour lifestyle. I'm sure he deserves both. :-) Too bad
photography job doesn't pay well. Maybe it's a better enjoyment
(?) for most people than job. People on this list earn big at other
jobs to buy Leica?
-
"That's how you young kids learn stuff. I'm glad to see rank
beginners with such curiosity."

Rank? Maybe my English is not so good, but I think this is
insult? Rank means "smells bad, rotten" I think. Why you insult
me when I'm asking questions?

No, I'm no child and no, I won't introduce myself. Why should I? I
ask questions, I get insults. Maybe you have me confuse with
somebody else?

I read posts here, I look at pictures. I think many people here
rich show offs. Where are high quality pictures from all this best
quality equipment? Lot of talk.

This joke, right? Hi pay job for big companie, you shoot with
35mm and lens scotch taped to bellows? You shoot this on
Kodak Gold 100 to save more money, too? Come on, this would
be so much more easy to shoot with medium or large format or
even digital. With digital you'd see results instantly and adjust
accordingly. Hand big shots disc, walk with check. You're a
smart guy, I think. Why would you make extra work for yourself
just to brag to this group?
-
PolaPan discontinued? Is this true? Now I'm in a panic. And I'm
furious! More fallout from this damned digital "revolution"
probably. I'm sick of it. All the challenge and creativity is being
flushed down the can to satisfy a bunch of instant-gratification
button pushers. Damn!
-
The finest film I've ever run through a Leica is PolaPan. Truly
stunning tonality and it processes in minutes on your desktop.
The slides are incredible delicate, however. They get scratched
just from looking at them. Great, great stuff. I'll never stop using
it.

Spend as much time as you can absorbing intricate technical
information. The more you can find about the most precise
methods for developing and printing as well as optical textbooks
and the like, the better -- really learn the "guts" of the
photographic process. I think looking at books of photography is
a waste of time. I have to concur with Andrew Nemeth: most
working photographers aren't worth spit, they're just regurgitating
hackneyed ideas, often in retrograde black and white. The
photographers who get published and exhibited are just being
pimped by some curator or gallery owner for their own nefarious
reasons; rest assured that talent has nothing to do with their
"celebrity." You are the best photographer you will ever meet.
Believe it, live it, make sure to tell anyone who will listen.

"i managed to kill my lasses a few years ago by "cleaning" them
with a microfiber after a party at the beach (ok, i was a bit off...) "

Jeezus! A bit off? I'd say so! What did you do to the girls with a
microfiber cloth, strangle them? Did you just leave them on the
beach after you killed them? How are you even posting to this
forum? Why aren't you in prison for life?

First perverts and photography critics, now murderers; this forum
truly is on the road to hell.

Dump the M6TTL and get the M7. The M6TTL is passe.
Everyone on the LUG has already traded in their old cameras
and upgraded. I believe that discussions of the M6 and M6TTL
are now being ignored. Makes sense. The M6 really sucked in
comparison to the phenomenal improvements made in the
M6TTL. Same now. Everything about the M7 is better. Ask
anyone.

Leica's tolerances are the most precise in the industry. There's
nothing wrong with your camera or your lenses and you know it.
I'm sure that Dr. Eliot Rosen will say that you're a liar too. If he
won't, I will, because I also want to be an unquestioning Leica
cheerleader.
-
An M4? A Leica M4? One of the finest cameras the E. Leitz
Wetzlar factory ever made? Dr. Rosen will probably say you're a
liar.
-
Hey, Bryan, in case you missed it, Dr. Rosen just called you a
liar.
-
I believe that I was either misunderstood or my words were
taken out of context. English is not my native tongue, so I'm
sorry.

I tried to say, Kirk, please post your photos of the President of the
United States somewhere where we can view them.

I admire his brilliance and his resolve in these times of strife and
sadness. I'm sure all of us would feel uplifted by another chance
to see an image of greatness.

I can't speak for the lefties, the Commies or the haters. There
are one-way flights out of this great land every day. Get on one
and goodbye, you won't be missed.

"I'm still holding on to some George Bush images, just in
case........... "

Just in case what? In case he does something laudible or
auspicious? Uh huh.

Those snaps might be worth something if he has another run in
with a pretzel.

Bottoms up, El Senor Presidente!
-
>Some companies add more blades to have a better out of
focus (bokeh) in their pictures.

Now THAT sounds nutty to me. IMO they concentrate on making
them SHARPER. To hell with bokeh.

Thus another Nikon photographer is born. . . .
-
Does this dude test other brands as well, for comparison
purposes, or does he adhere to the established Dutch model of
"if it doesn't say Leica, it isn't worth spit"?
-
What I want know is what did Ernst Haas and Burt Glinn use to
clean their lenses?
-
"Keith how can you judge a photo on a low res computer
screen. Also depends how it was,or what was used,to scan it."

How about content and composition? Or can't those be judged
adequately on a low res computer screen either?

I don't see anything particularly special in the NG photos
referenced.
-
And we like these photos why?

They seem fairly mundane to me once you look beyond the
exotic subjects and locale. And they are surprisingly flat,
considering that they were shot on TMZ.

Worst of all, he cut off those people's feet in the last shot. Totally
unnecessary. A half step back and he would have had it all.
Digital will be the end of Leica..

Dear Glenn Travis, RA,

I've read your thesis and your arrogant attack on other
photographers. Now, could you please describe, precisely, to
the assembled readers here, how your orchestra picture COULD
NOT have been made with a digital camera?

A camera (and its installed recording medium) is a device for
recording the light reflected off surfaces. While there are quality
differences in the "capture" afforded by film and an electronic
CCD, both devices are simply recording reflected light.

What do recording media have to do with "making" or "taking"
photographs?

And what's with the attitude?
