  1. The M6TTL features a handy 3 light read out in the viewfinder (center circle lights with correct exposure) whereas the M6-preTTL has 2 triangles (correct exposure known when the two are of equal brightness). I have the TTL and find it to be much easier to use for metering. I also like the larger shutter dial.
  2. On the matter of purchasing the 50mm lens without a viewfinder, consider using a Leica 24mm finder or the Voigtlander 25mm finder. Granted the Mamiya has the nice bubble and the aspect ratio of the 35mm finders is too wide, but a Voigtlander finder -- with lens -- can cost less than a used Mamiya finder alone.
  3. Who agrees with Steve Gandy's Cameraquest view that the Super Graphic

is an excellent low cost alternative to the Linhof Technika? Any

experience with the 135 Optar original lens? Seems like Toyo and

other new or newer metal field cameras are a lot more money for not

    necessarily a lot more features.

  4. I have used a monopod with my Rollei TLR's with excellent results. The camera's vibration is relatively little to begin with and the extra steadiness is much appreciated at dusk. Also, I have made my own walking stick/monopod by taking a replacement tool handle (cone shaped at the bottom to fit the metal tool--makes a slight point to the ground). My hardware store had a brass threaded insert so a 1/4---20 screw stud would fit in order to mount a camera. Check it out!
  5. thanks for all the comments. My thinking is much the same as R Quan. I have an M7 and M6TTL. My checks on the price of an M4-2 suggest it is often rather inexpensive compared to M4's, even splendid M2's. I once had an M2 and did not like the film loading requirements compared to M4 and later. I don't need the 75 frame and the 28 is easy to estimate when needed. Thanks again.
