David,

For B/W street photography, I use TRI-X. Its a very versatile film,
and can be easily pushed to 1600 without any huge loss in
performance. This would help cover most low light situations.
However, anything above 8R gets quite grainy. I love it though. Its
your call.

If your lens is the last non-asph 35mm summicron, the current
hood for the 35ASPH will fit perfectly. As for the back caps, go get
the Konicas. No point paying $20?? for a leica cap. Do they need
specially trained technicians to make those caps?

Bill,

I own both a nikon and an M6, and other than the times I need to
use tele lenses, the nikon stays home. my M6 goes everywhere
with me. And its perfect for what you described. Evening street
stuff and candid shots. Can't imagine an F5 doing that job.

Besides, black enamel paint M4 that brasses beautifully with
35cron? Looks like a winner in my books.

In my opinion, The Konica is a fine lens indeed. It matches up to
the leica in terms of built and optics. However, I find the colour of
the summicron totally blows the Konica away. In B/W, I'd be
hard-pressed to tell the difference.
