Hi

I have photographed extensively in Africa, both mixed groups and dark
skin tones alone, and I have found that Fuji Astia actually works
very well for the purpose. In fact, I find Fuji Astia very good for
people. That is, after all, what it was designed for!

Keep well

Hi Luke

I realise you may well have already tried this but it's just a
thought. I once got a big shock when I thought that I had scratched
the coating on the front element of my Nikkor 85mm F1.4. Breathing on
it and wiping did not remove the apparent scratch. A small amount of
lens cleaning fluid on a microfibre cloth did the trick though. It
was a very fine line smear of something oily which wiped off. I hope
your scratches may turn out to be the same.

The following job advertisement from Leica's website does suggest that Leica is thinking along the lines of a digital camera other than point and shoot models.

Hi Phil

Schneider makes some very nice filters under the B+W name.
You can get them from, among others, http://www.robertwhite.co.uk

I use Heliopan filters (made using Schott glass) and have found them
very good. Robert White also stocks these.

Both the above makes use brass mounting rings.

I think that there is a little company from Solms called Leica which
certainly used to offer its own brand filters, though I'm not sure
what the size of the range of coloured filters is now.

Hope this helps
Gaffer+black paint ?
in Leica and Rangefinders
Posted
I'm not sure whether your camera is a 'black chrome' or 'black paint'
version. While I have used gaffers tape on black chrome M6s (not to
disguise them but to prevent wear on certain wear-prone areas) for
years without any ill-effect, I have managed to damage the 'black
paint' on a Nikkor AIS lens when removing gaffer's tape! An area of
the black paint came off with the gaffer tape when I took it off.

Hope this helps
