1. Hello

How would one go about thoughtfully disposing of spent chemicals (dev/bleach/fixer). I understand i mix them together in the correct order to neutralize (p30 ilford) but whatdo i do with it then? take it to a minilab?

  2. Hi

Is it just me or is Ilfochrome getting harder to find these days? If you use it does ilford still supply a full range to the retailers you purchase from? I am having a great time printing my provia slides onto ilfochrome and it would be a real real shame to lose that. Should i be worried and buy up big and freeze lots? Are there any alternative processes for reversal printing that i could use with my three bath CAP40 processor if i cant get ilfochrome any more?

    Thanks

  3. I don't belive you can get a combination AV and slide projector...

Why not make your own? The relatively large format you would be

projecting (compared to 35mm) would require either some condenser

lens system from a LF or MF enlarger to produce parallel light rays,

or a fresnel lens ( a diffusion plate absorbs too much light for

projection) and a nice bright light source. A metal halide lamp and

ballast would be ideal, however a tungsten halogen lamp would

suffice. The use of a fan, dichroic reflector for the lamp and/or

a "cold mirror" to remove the infra red energy from the lamp is

necassary to prevent overheating and damage to the silde. I am

speaking from experience as i have made several projectors. Use a

lens you would use for enlarging that format.

  4. At 5x7 you will get a very slight light fall of on the edges and with

no movements sharpness will be OK. If you want to be really finnikey

get a center spot ND filter but personally I don't worry. I use the

    lens with 6x17 format (17cm=approx 7")

  5. Does anyone have any methods of focussing mechanisims for a 6x17 camera (homemade)? I previously had a 90mm angulon f6.8 in a PVC screw off endcap and associated threaded section from a plumbing supply; that worked O.K., but now the SA90 f8 i have is too big! soemthing like a rack and bellows, or something like the Fuji or Linhof 617's focusser, how is the focussing mechanisim arranged on these cameras?

    Thanks in advance
