  1. If any one owns or has knowledge of the Wista SP 4x5 field camera, I have a lens mounting question.

If you want to mount a Sch.58mm super angulon XL to this camera, do you require a wide angle bellows, a recessed lens board, both or neither ? Thanks, Dan

  2. Yes, 35mm has it's place in photgraphy. 35mm will capture the

decisive moment, the horse and jockey spilling on the final turn. Yet

place your self in front of a grand scenic and yes, large format will

have no equal. Let me put it this way. It would be like two shooters

showing up for a free landscape image give away. one shooter has a

measuring cup, the other a wheel barrel, who will be leaving with

    more resolution?

  3. I think I'll jump right in on this one. I use a Ries Deluxe Model B

Tri-Lok with a Majestic Model 1200 on top. I use this set-up with

either my 8x10 Agfa, 8x10 vintage Conley, or my 11x14 converted green

Calumet. All these instruments of image capturing is used in wet

swampy and hot terrain. The Ries is steady, reliable, and I would not

    trade it for anything.

  4. Matt,

What can I say . Every one needs to find their own path to walk down.

LF & MF both have thier own set of advantages and disadvantages. I am

some what like you in the sense I get nervous when some South Florida

tourist creeps up a little to close behind me to stare at the three

legged contraption. Fortunately, I shoot most of my images where only

    big foot hangs out.

Try this... Just shoot MF for a good while and get your self a good

dose of mobility and moving around. Let your LF equipment sit dormant

for a time. Trust me and dont sell it. After about 6 months or so,

take a good look at all your MF negs and maybe, just maybe you might

say to your self; I'll be dam! What COULD HAVE BEEN with the

resolution of that large negative. Some times you just have to do

    something differently for a while.
