This is a promising picture, but it should have been taken a few seconds earlier, or later, or the photographer should have got closer. If the horse had been more centrally placed in the entrance, or if we could have seen the woman's face, it would have been excellent. Cheers, Paul.

This was taken in his studio during his "cathedrals period". He'd simply pin a large

canvas to the wall - no stretcher - and get stuck-in with a lump of charcoal. He got this

far in about half an hour.

You need to expose for the interior, not the light coming in through the windows.

Great picture all round: the moment, the composition, the light. Could perhaps have been improved slightly if the camera had been tilted down a little, capturing the seated couple's feet and cutting out the globe of light. Cheers, P.

Liz, this is a great picture - why does it need so much post production? On a picture as good as this the post production work should not be noticeable, just the lightest of touches.

 

I have to say I'm not a great believer in flash, but here it works to your benefit. Maybe you could have tried something a little subtler without the flash, or maybe try some B&W film next time! It's the light which is so interesting on those stainless steel surfaces.

I'd say you should have taken two steps to the left, two steps forward, and lowered your camera angle. Also perhaps a shorter lens. I know that's not much help now! But maybe for future reference...

Good picture, but a little "over-processed" for my taste. What does it look like before the post-production work?
