  1. The lens hood designed for the 50mm f2.8 Elmar (new type) is an E39 screw thread. Since this hood would also fit a 50mm Summicron and is a much smaller design than the plastic 12536 version I have, it would seem to be a good alternative. Has anyone tried this hood on a Summicron and would there be any problems with vignetting etc?
  2. Last week I had a chance to try the new winder at a Leica day in

Glasgow. The Leica rep let me fit it to my M6 body for comparison to

the M-grip. It is very compact and is not very heavy but having never

tried a winder on an M body before I was surprised with the shutter

release pulsing up and down as the winder cycled the shutter.

In actual fact it put me off this item a litle since I was expecting

it to be like the R- series winders.

I am now thinking of an "Abrahamsson rapidwinder." Has anyone any

    operating comments on this item?

I read with interest your comments about the M6 gradually becoming

    your first choice camera.

Up until last year I was running both R & M cameras and eventually

decided to sell all my R equipment since I was hardly ever using it.

The M6 was the camera I was using all the time, however the

capability I missed with the R series was for close-up work.

To give me some close-up capability with the M6 I purchased a Leitz

copying stand code name "beoon" or code No 16511.This is used with

    the 50mm Summicron and gives close-up ratios of 1:1, 1:1.5,1:2 & 1:3.

I read about this Leitz equipment from an interesting article in the

LHSA. It will never replace the full close-up capability of the R

series but I have found this equipment really usefull and it is

available at reasonable prices second hand.

  4. I have recently purchased a 35mm Summicron ASPH and I am wondering if anyone has any comments about this new lens from a users point of view. From what I have read so far the new lens seems to be superior at full aperture.

    Regards Alan Stokes
