Been fishing out on Chappy for some 20 years now. No better place to be esp. when such good news is comming your way.
Enjoy.

Good morning,
Thank you all for the positive responses to my post. I have and old Linhof 4x5 that I'm going to dust off and get to work with. I have been shooting Leica M's for years, Hasselblad, and others, but in the recesses of my mind have been wanting to settle into the 4x5 format and enjoy it for everything it has to offer.
So as a newbie to LF, I hope to contribute here in the near future.
One other thought: The Hasselblad Flex Body...any opinions about this camera body. I have one, but never really have given it a chance to prove itself.
Thanks again.

Hi Guys,
My first post in the LF forum. I'm a big fan of Meyerowitz's work and
was just wondering what film he used for his (& wife's) new
Tuscany-Inside The Light book. A very nice book if you have not seen
it yet.
I would like to know the technical side of his works.
Thanks in advance.

Hello,
I'm a bit confused as to the different finishes of these cameras?
Is the M4 "50 year" considered "black paint" or "black chrome"?
What is the difference?
What is black paint? What is black chrome?
What is your opinion of the M4 (50years and others) and what are the
variations,if any.
All the best,
Bob Mac

Bert and Ernie, of course.

Yes. you are alone. The only thing I can think of is that something may be wrong (assembly?) in the mask that creates the bright line frames. If that is out of line, it may cause the bright line to become dim. Or perhaps something is not in alignment in the rangefiner ability to gather light.
Honestly, I don't know shit about the mechanics of it all.
As for the .58, .72., .85, pure marketing. Leica is still making the .72 because that is the king daddy viewfinder of them all. Has been since the arrival of the M2. How many years ago?
Ever since Leica mixed in the different viewfinders, people have moaned good and bad. And you are right: .58 for wide. .72 for everything, and .85 for tele., just like Leica markets them.
And remember, the frame lines are really not accurate at all, they are just a guide line set at the closest focus distance for each lens mounted.

Hang out for a year until you can afford the Leica M body AND the summicron of your choice. M body + M glass = M experience!! I would bet that if you bought the M body w/ CV glass, every time you used the set up you would feel a bit "empty" should I say.
IMO, the CV glass is great, but an M body would most likely out last a Bessa body for many decades.
If you can't wait, I would really take John's advice and look for a user m(6) and pre-asph 35. That set up is out there, you just need to find it!

Any one know where the old post (month old?)of the forum self
portraits? I can't remember the name of it..."The way we really
look, or something to that nature.
I've looked in the archives, but to no avail.
Thanks,

Quick question:
If you use the 28mm CV Color-Skopar lens on the Leica M, is it
scale/distance focus only, or will you be able to use the
rangefinder focus patch?
Any one using this type of set up?
Thanks,
Bob

It looks like another Panasonic of some sort. The thought of a digital M is down right foolish. The "D-Lux" is in no way paving the road to fulfill a fantasy of a digital M.
Snap out of it!

...you can thank Al Gore for that....?

Thanks Gene,
I'll give that a try. These are my first "picture" posts.
Question:
Is the image loading quickly? About 4X6 on your screen?

That is the option when I pick from the "choose a lens" catagory.

second try..

Chilly Day on Cape Cod..

used m6
used 35mm
...you will never look back on that decision. The only thing left to think about is your shooting.
Good luck!

Looked like an M7 w/ motor drive perhaps w/ a 21mm or 24, given the close access he has. I would gather we will see some wide b+w shots from his view in news mags in the weeks to come.
He was real fluid in his movement around the President and Cabinet members. (Probably shot 36 on the way in and 36 on the way out and who knows how many shots during the speech)
I once heard that the only camera allowed into the Oval office was a Leica M for obvious reasons...is that true?
In any event, a small thrill for M users who happen to see catch a glimpse.

I will miss k25 very much. Although a tricky film to use at times, when you hit the exposure right with k25, man did it shine.
...only 2 rolls left in my bag....

Since I purchased a pair of 8x20 Ultravids last year, looking into the trees or out onto the ocean has been one the simple pleasures in life. Living along the coast during the autumn months one can witness a variety of birds departing for the winter. It amazes me every year. The months of October and November tend to be months I use them the most. Last night I put them in my bag for the morning sunrise. While viewing the horizon today I am thinking of how pure and clean the view is. They are just plain fun to view thru!
...and given all of the distortion in the news these days I find solitude when I do find time to use them...
