Yes I've printed the nozzle check patterns - looks OK.

Printer setting.
There's not much to set:
select proper paper type - sets it to 720 dpi
set to color and automatic, select 'Epson natural Color'
Bear with me I am new to printing ;-)

All,
I printed image taken with Canon A60 at maximum resolution and
lowest compression. I printed it on Epson Photo 780 using Premium
Glossy Photo paper.
On the print I see horizontal lines - why? Is it expected?
(I changed the ink - same result).
I attach a scan made at 300 dpi on Epson Perfection 1640.
The lines are clearly visible on the scan/print, but not on the
original image from the camera.

All,
I am relatively new to Digital - I played with some simple cameras
in the last few years. In the film world I shoot Canon A5, Yashica T4
and some Russian fully manual Zenits.
Now to my question.
I have Canon Powershot A60 to play with.
I am not satisfied with sharpness of the images I get...
Here's a crop of an eye taken with autofocus on and flash, largest
file available on the camera (2MP) and SuperFine compression (lowest
compression available).
I adjusted contrast in PS and run Sharpen filter on it.
Is is camera's limit(focusing ability) or I can improve it somehow
with PS (which I am not an expert with...)???
Thanks all,

Just read the article by Bob Atkinson on his web site.
He reviewed those lenses.
<p>
I went thru the same process of chosing a while ago and
got 100-300/5.6L for ~300$ from BHphotovideo.com
<p>
I don't care much about fast autofocus coming with USm, but
optically this lens is the BEST in x-300 range (non-pro).

All,
<p>
I have the above lens and like it, but it's quite heavy
and I'd like to fit it with tripod collar (mount ring).
<p>
I don't like to haul around heavy tripod with heavy head,
thus the need for better balance.
<p>
I know there's no collar manufactured specifically for this
lens, at least not by Canon.
<p>
I think I read somewhere that some older collars can be fitted?
Any advise will be appreciated.

Visible lines in prints made on Epson printer

All,
Thank you so much.
I did try custom settings - 2880 dpi and the lines disappeared!
Stupid default settings for the printer driver - I assumed that
by selecting the paper I was selecting proper settings.
Well, I learned something today.
I am out of ink now - will buy some more and will continue my experiments.
Thanks again.
