  1. T3 or TC? There is no TC3...

Regardless, lens choice is the same.

I have no experience of the Konica zooms, but they're reported to be nothing special.

The 40/1.8 is a stunning lens and makes a perfect street/walk around option, especially on the lightweight TC or T4 bodies.

The 50/1.4 is another that I use often. Bigger and heavier, not as razor sharp, but with better 'character' for portraits.

Unfortunately, outside of the 28/3.5, the various standard lenses and the 135/3.5, Hexanon glass starts to get pricey, as you're competing with the collectors for relatively small production numbers, at least when compared to Canon/Nikon/Pentax.

Definitely grab either the 40/1.8 or the 50/1.7.

The 55/3.5 macro is a solid performer.

I use my hexanons on both film and digital, they're some of my most used lenses. The 40/1.8 makes my Micro 4/3 glass look like coke bottle bottoms ..

Don't forget, you can adapt just about any other SLR mount to Konica AR, but finding the adaptors can be hard.

Yes, I meant the T3. I did order a Tamron Adaptall2 adapter for the Konica AR mount

Thank you for your helpful response!

  2. I have decided to buy a Konica SLR based on reputation and my experience with their rangefinders in the past and now (Auto S 3)

I bought a Autoreflex TC3 and the Hexanon 28mm f3.5 that comes with it. What Hexanon zoom lenses are the choice of any users here? I already have several Tamron lenses that I used with other camera systems. I have read that for a standard lens tyhe Hexanon 40mm f1.8 is outstanding

  3. So you are looking for the curved chrome piece with the little grooved knob on it that the lens latches in place with? Is that it? Yes a II or III or a copy won't provide the part you need. You need a IIa or IIIa body to strip the part off, or someone who has one. (but you already know that,,, ;)

Yes I have searched for a body for parts but I am not willing to pay that for just this part I have another !!a which is perfect and recently CLA'd by Advance Camera in Beaverton, Or. The damaged camera can function without the clip, however

  4. I just recently purchased a Leicaflex SL2 and I found that a Tamron Adaptal 2 lens - an SP 24-48mm did in fact mount to the body. I did not go further than mounting it and firing the shutter. This would not mount on my SL. In my opinion, the Tamron SP 24-48mm F2.5 is a decent lens. I have other Leica lenses that work on the SL2 and my R6. FWIW, there are Leica zooms made by Minolta and Sigma.

  5. Don't do it! A Tamron on a Leica defeats the reason you probably bought a Leica. Save your money and get a Leitz 24mm or wider.

Don't do it! ? I have other Leica lenses and I in no way have the money to buy a 24mm f2.8 Elmarit. What would you say about using a Minolta lens or a Sigma lens. These have used as Leica badged lenses. Although I have used Leica cameras and lenses going back to the 1970's.

  6. I am waiting for my Leica R6 to arrive from KEH and I decided to look for a 24mm lens. This is my primary focal length for shooting with film. I am normally a Lumix GX7 digital user but I also love to shoot film. I couldn't in any way justify what a Leitz 24mm f2.8 sells for so I found the Tamron with a Leica R adapter with it on EBay. Have any of you ever shot that Tamron lens on a Leica R camera body? I do have a 50mm f2 Summiron and the 35-70mm Vario-Elmarit R (60)
  7. I am new to this section of Photo-Net so please allow me to jump in. I am no stranger to RF cameras - my first were a Leica M4 and a Leica M2R back in 1970, bought at Olden Camera in NYC. I owned a nice Contax IIa several years but let it go. I just recently bought a Kiev 4A, made in 1960, mostly out of curiosity. I unfortunately have to wait to use it as I am having surgery on Monday. I am looking at buying. What do I look for in buying a Contax IIA? There are several from Japanese dealers with prices less than others. Do any of you have a Contax IIA on the market? I hope to sell a Leica R 28mm f2.8 which will help fund something else. This is the Kiev I bought. Thank you for reading. John - Albany, Oregon

  8. Definitely. The fact that he initially not only decided to keep the camera but also refuse to refund the money made him look pretty bad. I already owned a perfectly working XD11 and I suppose I could have kept the XD-S and used the XD11 for parts - assuming that the parts were the same. I don't know what the labor would have been. I see now that there is an XD-S with a 24mm f2.8 MD Rokkor for sale.
  9. Today I heard back from the seller and he said the camera was perfect with no defect and he was going to keep the camera and would not issue a refund. I contacted Ebay and told the agent on the phone about the camera and it's problem. He agreed to refund me the money. Then later the seller contacted me and said that until today he was unaware of the camera's problem and that he would check it out and maybe send a refund! I told him a day after I received the camera of the battery drain issue and that a professional tech had inspected it. His ad clearly states a 30 money back guarantee. I had contacted him well within 30 days and he agreed to the return - a couple of weeks ago.
  10. My mint looking Leica R4s MOD.2 came today and it looks perfect - except for one small thing. As a precaution I replaced the foam seal around the film window. The foam that came on the camera was a bit "gooey" looking. (for lack of a better word) I had some spare material and removed and replaced the foam. I will shoot some film soon. My wife and I are driving down to Virginia City next week for a few days. A great place for photo ops, especially b&w.
  11. The Minolta XD-S turned out to be defective and the seller in Japan has agreed to take it back. Then I looked at George Ury's website and saw an alternative. He is selling out his stock because of retirement and he has a mint R4S Mod P which I will buy for a reduced price. He will give a little back for the broken R4 that he sold me a short while ago. If any of you are looking for Leica gear (or other good equipment) you might check his website.
  12. The seller finally agreed to take it back - he had 30 day return in his ad but was reluctant. So tomorrow I will ship it back. Now I am a bit "gunshy" about finding another. This guy assured me that it worked perfectly but it didn't. There are a couple more Minolta XD-S's in Japan to choose from, but I will most likely buy a black XD11 from a US seller.
  13. I'd send it back. It's been my experience that cameras from the '70s/80's are cheaper to replace than repair. This kind of problem is precisely why I don't order cameras from Japan (I shoot with Nikon FE2's and FM2N's [in US]). Lenses, yes, because I've been in Nikon photography since 1978 and bought scores of Nikon lenses since then and NEVER had any trouble with them at all.

Sorry you're having problems. If you bought the camera through ebay and ask for return of defective item, you should get an email so that you can print out a postage paid return shipping label.

Thank you. I was typing just as you were. If the camera was in "as is" condition, it would be different. I paid $189.00 plus shipping

  14. I just received a nice Minolta XD-s yesterday from a dealer in Japan it looked great. Unfortunately, there is a serious problem. The batteries went dead in a day. With a fresh set, it went dead over night. I even placed the shutter on 0 which showed no LEDs lit in the viewfinder. What might be wrong? I hate to ship it back but I will if needed.
  15. The Minolta XD-S is much like the Leica R4 with metering in auto aperture and shutter as well as manual.. The Minolta XE-7 is more akin to a Leica R-3. In as much as I am using Tamron lenses right now, the body I use is not that important. The SL is used because it works and I have a couple of Leitz lenses. I don't have a Tamron Adaptall 2 mount for a Leicaflex
  16. I ended up not buying an R6 but another Minolta, an XD-S, an updated XD11 meant for the Japanese market. This is a mint black XD-S, coming from a dealer in Japan. I thought that since I was using Tamron lenses on the R4 anyway, it made little sense to spend twice as much for an R6 than for a minty XD-S, which is much the same as the R4. I already have a chrome XD11 which was rebuilt a few years ago. I still have my Leicaflex SL and a couple of Leitz lenses for it.
  17. Thank you. I am looking at on in South Korea and one in Japan. The SL is indeed a fine camera, a tank. I liked it as much as my old M4 and M2R years ago. Digital is still my main method of photography, however. Film is hard to find and it is expensive to shoot and process. No stores where I live even carry film other than the cheap Fujicolor 200 and even that is $11 for 24 exposures. I ship off the film to a company in KS and they put it on a cd,
  18. My R4 has a problem with the electronics - shutter not responding to changes in the dial. I don't think that it is worth repairing, assuming that I can find a reliable tech to work on it.

I would like to buy an R6 and I would like to know if there are things to look out for. I also own a Leicaflex SL which is a terrific camera (my third in my life)

  19. I have Tamron Adaptall 2 mounts for a Leica R 4 and I also have a basic mount for a Leicaflex. Do any of you think it would be possible to use both to create a fully functional Adaptall 2 mount for a Leicaflex? The mounts for a Leicaflex are difficult to find and those that are available are way over priced.
