Somehow the foreground image doesnt sit well with the background. Was it added later?

Fantastic lighting job - surely not by accident???
-
Having gotten my hands on a canon 9900F, a half decent scanner:-
-
I agree! Didn't even occur to me, but looks great. Thanks!
-
I know, it's awful. The original was wonderful, but...I can't afford a medium format scanner :o(
-
Thanks for the comment - vignetting? Huh? Oh..that. Yes, that'd be my scanner :o(
-
woah! this cat has issues!!! :o)
-
Major vignetting problem - filter too small??
-- would it (or any of your vignetted shots) lose much by being cropped? I usually would choose that route..best regards T

...that's the idea
-
I also like the composition, if somewhat adventurous! The water looks like liquid gold...I like it.
-
I think it's what's known as "oops"
-
I bet you're kicking that scanner by now - I know mine would let me down on a photo like this too..
-
I like how the colours come out. Only criticism? Maybe something in the foreground like the tree mostly out of the shot?
-
I went in a tunnel like this once in a boat...hmm...familiar... :o)
-
It's the striking colours and clarity that draw me to this shot. Red and blue work well imo...
-
The repeating patterns are intriguing. I've never seen that before! Well spotted!
-
Yes and no - I used a cokin light sunset (inverted so the grass was the "sunset"!) and a polariser. The rest was due to scanning..

As previous comments, I dont have any problems with the centering - I think that there's no reason not to, and it works.
But I do feel the pic should be straight. I've had a quick go (not exactly exhaustive) and I think that straightening the horizon gives a more interesting perspective somehow. End of the day, it's up to you, but if I was hanging a pic on my wall it would have to have a straight horizon I think...

....along with the silhouette of the buildings behind the illuminated smoke. Very nice. I do wish I could see a bit more to the right, though, but that's just being picky!
-
I've been a bit quiet because I had to dig out the original negative. The curiosity paid off, I managed to find the original and re-scan in some "toned down" colours. I think it's a bit better now :o)
That said - I am inclined to agree. The b/w version of the original is much more striking than either of the other two!
-
Do you know, I have absolutely no idea.
Actually, I'm really annoyed about the pic (taken with a digi point and shoot if you can believe it), because the film I shot the real photo on snapped and got destroyed.
Goes to show, use more than one camera! :o)

This is fascinating - I stared for ages trying to work out what it was...

Very good clear pic, with a nice deep purple, something I like about velvia. Did it come out that colour on the film?
Amazing that you caught it that clear at that size. Indoors??
