Hello all,
I recently bought a Nikon D50. The salesman also gave a 512MB YES RS-
MMC Memory card. I thought it is an SD card and did not care much as
the test snaps that I took in the shot were good.
Now I realize that SD and MMC cards are different. SD has more
read/write speed (4 times higher)than MMC. I also found on the web
that any device that can take SD card can take MMC cards.
I have taken about 60 pictures so far and I found the speed of the
card is not in any way hindering my shooting or playback.
My only worry is that it should not do any damage to the camera.
Therefore, my question is, Is it OK to use MMC card in a Nikon D50?
Thanks in advance,
Mohan

Hello all,
I bought a Nikon D50 couple of days back and has been shooting some
sample photos with it. The picture quality is good. But I noticed
some strange thing while shooting. Normally, when the picture is
being taken, in an SLR camera, the mirror locks up, the shutter opens
and the film (or CCD) is exposed to the scene and then the shutter
closes and then the mirror is released. This means, at the time of
exposure, you will not see the scene through the view finder because
of mirror lock up. Right?
But when I take pictures with D50, I am able to see the scene through
the view finder along with the flash momentarly. That is, I could see
through the view finder that the subject is being lit with the flash
for a breif moment. I am not sure if this is normal or a fault in the
operation of the camera. Did anyone observed this?
I would appreciate any help.
Thanks in Advance,
Mohan
D50 and fill-in flash in portrait mode
in Mirrorless Digital Cameras
Posted
Hi,
In Nikon D50, in portrait mode, I am unable to set (force) the fill-
in flash. The camera does not allow me to set the "flash-on" mode
while in portrait mode. It sets to AUTO mode.
I was taking some portraits in a shade and wanted the fill-in flash,
but the camera refused to fire because it was set in AUTO mode. I
really do not like this. I must have the option of "flash-on"
whenever I need, irrespective of the mode.
Is there a workaround for this?
Thanks in advance,
Mohan
