Hi,
I'm leaving this weekend for a three week trip to Alaska. My final
goal in this trip is to see a lot of different places, shot nearly 50
rolls of velvia ;-), see a lot of wildlife, beautiful landscapes,
glaciers, but also some old'n'rusty scense from the gold-rush area.
I actually planed to start from Anchorage to Denali to Fairbanks.
Maybe make a trip to Circle City (is it worth to see?!), go over Tok
to Chicken - if it's worth, make a trip to Eagle, down to Dawson City.
If I havn't been in Eagle, I might can do a day-trip on the Yukon.
From Dawson City over Flat to Whitehorse.
I really like to see Hyder/Stewart (greate pictures in my
travelguide), but I'm not sure if it's really worth to drive all the
way down, maybe Skagway or Haines is not so far and nearly the same
scenic.
Then back on the Alaska Highway to Tok, over Culkana Junction to
Chitina, make a trip to McCarthy (any tips for this, any tips for
great places to shot pictures, see wildlife etc.?)
After that maybe down to Valdez or a trip to Kenai.
Any secret hints on this trip? Any places where I can see bears? I
have to see bears, so where should I go... Any secret places for old
and rusty gold-mines?
Bye, Carsten
P.S. I'm still youngh, healthy and I didn't have a problem with
driving 12 hours a day, so don't worry about km or miles.

Hi,

I saw some really impressive pictures from Yellowstone in the wintertime. I have ten days off in December/January and thing about going there.

Is it possible to come into the park at this time or is it closed? What kind of car should I rent? Which motels/hotels are open at this season? Which is the nearest airport to start the trip?

Which places are the most interresting in wintertime? Any other things to carry e.g. heatet boots or skies?

Thanks, Carsten

I think digital imaging won't too much to nature photography. The only thing you can do with your computer is to repear your faults or put a moon on a picture where there was no one - but nobody would spend time in drawing a bird and put it on a nice landscape saying that this was one of his best shots.

Digital photography will become more important in the newspaper bussiness as it'll be faster than developing a film, make a print...you can feed your picture right from the camera to page one of the paper - maybe 15 sec. for all.

I think there're no one out there who carry a digital camera out to the highlands, as you always have to carry a laptop with 2 GB of discspace for archiving. Taking a SLR Camera and a handfull of films is much easier and more creative...

I'll buy a Nikon 80-200 and need a polarizer for this lense. As I switched to Cokin P for my other filters I still bought screw-on polarize filters for my lenses. I now think about the Cokin Polarize Filter. Any comments?
Best time for winter photography in Yellowstone...

Hi folks,
which is the best time for travelling to Yellowstone NP to make
beautiful picture of snow covered trees. When looking at the live
webcam there it look's like they have only a few inches of snow,
but all trees are green.
I've seen beautiful images of Yellowstone in winter any planing to
visit it soon.
Bye, Carsten
