1. I was looking at Sigma 50-500 lens (for Canon EOS). It has 86mm

filter size with coarse pitch. What exactly do they mean

    by "coarse pitch"

I do not know where to post this.. There is no category for Sigma!!!,

and general archived is closed !

    - Thanks

  2. So... There are 2 types of magnifiers?.

1) Viewfiender Magnifier
2) Lens Magnifier.

I have heard/read people mentioning magnifiers to blow up macro shots like Jose has pointed out. On the other hand when I searched for "Magnifier" in Adorama, It gave me results like Chris has pointed out. So which one is called what?... Interesting... :-)
  3. Jim
Been there.. Done that...To elaborate on BobAtkins, there are 10,000

photographers in each city with 10,000 photos in stock. So ours photos

    are 1 in (10000 * 10000 * N# cities). I used to spend a lot of money

on photography until one day when I asked myself, what the heck am I

doing. Now I donate the money I used spend on these Rolls, and a

child in Afghanistan gets food and cloth one full year.
My point is... Photography has come to a saturation point. There are

sharks out there like John Fielder & John Shaw with killing machines

and great skills many just can't compete with. Thats the fact.

Good luck on your expedition.. who knows.. maybe you can become an

other "John Shaw" or "Gallen Rowell"... :-)

  4. Folks,

I am planning to upgrade my zoom lens. I have been reading the

reviews and messages posted and came down to 2 lenses.
1) Canon 100-400 4.5/5.6L USM
2) Canon 70-200 2.8L USM add 2X-II
I am in a dilemma wheather to buy EOS 100-400 or 70-200 and add an

extender to it. I want this lens to shoot wildlife and nature.
Can anybody throw some suggestions here.
Note: Push-Pull does not matter to me.

  5. Hello There,

Are there any photo enthusiast in and around Colorado Springs who

would be willing to get-together every week-end (or so) to hike and

take pictures. I just moved here a month ago from MI. I love to hike.

But I do not like to hike alone. Maybe we can hike together share

knowledge / equipment and shoot pictures. Interested? Send me an

    email to georgeKDS@yahoo.com.

    Thanks

    - George

  6. Ellis Vener : Lets not waste time with such irresposible responses.

Yes, I saw this pic while browsing this site. I have faced this

problem many a times. I normally do not shoot in such situations,

I know it is gonna come dark. Just wanted to find out if there

    are any solutions.

  7. This is not my picture. I took it from this website. If you look at

this picture one side of it is totally dark. This is a difficult

lighting situation. Any ideas how to overcome this without using the

flash?. If we expose for a longer period the picture will become

blurred. What do we if do not have a flash handy at this point or if

    the subject is too far.?
007Vdo-16777084.jpg.a693c9c60e0530e062010be5c06c2dbf.jpg

  8. I totally agree with Dirk van der Merwe.

It is absolutely not bears fault. The park should not be closed and the bears should not be punished. They are just protecting their territory. Would we just let go off a bear if we spot them in our backyard with small kids playing around?. Having said that I do feel sorry for the couple, they should have been more careful.

  9. This is George. Originally posted the question. I bought this lens 2 week ago and played around with it. As mentioned the lens is very sharp blah..blah..blah. The only disadvantage is it is HEAVY. We have to have a tripod to shoot pics, else there is definetly a shake!!!
