  1. Hi everyone,

My brother and I will be heading up to Acadia National Park in a few

weeks to photograph the lupines; among other things. I know the

general time frame for the peak bloom is the middle of June but I

know that can vary from year to year depending on the weather. I was

wondering if that date is about right for this year?

We have been to Acadia a few times and have photographed the usual-

Cadillac sunrise/sunset, Bass Harbor light, etc. Does anyone have any

other gems you might want to share with us?

    Thanks for your help,

  2. Do both and see which one you like better.I myself still prefer to portray the constant motion of the water and render it as such by using a slower shutter speed. I would recommend using a polarizer to remove any glare on surrounding rocks or vegetation.

  3. Start with a Cokin P Series filter holder. I have no experience with Hitech but I am very pleased with my Singh-Ray 2 stop split ND. It is neutral in color and does not have a magenta cast like some other less expensive brands. It seems to me that the price was around $100.

    Good luck,

  4. Hugh,

I have a Lowepro Photo Trekker AW and it works great for me. I carry a Nikon N90S with a 80-200 f2.8 attached, and a Pentax 67 with a 55 f4 attached. Additionally I carry a 300 f4,28 f2.8, 28-70 f3.5, and a 1.4 teleconverter for the Nikon with a 200 f4, 135 f4 macro, 105 f4 and three extension tubes for the Pentax. All the little things like filters, cable release, flashlight, etc fit nicely in the pockets. The backpack has mesh padding and an adjustable harness. It was sized for an airline carry on but that may have changed with all the turmoil going on after 9/11. Hope this helps.

  5. Stefan,

Two of the best books I've seen are Galen Rowell's "Mountain Light" and Art Wolfe's "The Art of Photographing Nature". Both are filled with excellent images and an informative text about each image. You can not go wrong with either book.

  6. Hi,

I'm planning a possible week long trip to the Dolly Sods and

Blackwater Falls area this upcoming fall. Does anyone know the peak

time for fall color? I'm assuming the upper elevations of Dolly Sods

would turn first. Also any info as to prime photo locations would be

much appreciated. Basically anything to help me maximze my time.

    Thanks,

    Ed
