The top photo was shot at f2.8 while the bottom was shot at f16.

I think you meant to say "the top photo was shot at f/16 while the bottom was shot at f/2.8".

Looks slippery enough to me, but I'm very familiar with how treacherous terrestrial algae can make surfaces after a few months of rainy weather.

Maybe try shooting it right after it has finished raining, when the stones are still coated with water?
