I accidentally tripped the shutter release while moving the tripod. Not wanting a wasted and blurred frame I panned the camera across the nearby streetlights and voila.
-
I like the shot. Its a good leading line. In the bottom half of the frame the subject seems to be a sidewalk and maybe some snow, but as you follow the line the "sidewalk" appears to take off into the sky. It looks like you did an "Auto levels" operation on the picture and the reds and purples were boosted in the clouds - feels unnatural to me. If you have photoshop, experiment with duotoning this shot as the color is not what makes the shot.

I like this shot for its almost thermographic feel - the light pouring out of the cracks and holes in the walls of these structures.

This was one of my first shots with my (then) new camera. Until I got my slide scanner it was not a very exciting picture as the print was over exposed. My only lament, it is VERY grainy.

Don't likes:
- The fact that you can't see both eyes
- The dot of light in the background
- The white corrosion under his nose
Likes:
- The background tree came out almost perfectly
- The symmetry in the pedestal
- Nice contrast and texture due to lighting

I think the shadow is my father. Doh! :)

Beautiful shot. Good texture. I really like the way the bows overhead and the haze adds depth to the image. The foreground trees on the left are a distracting element.

All feedback welcome. This was the first break in the clouds after
four days of rain. The gloves were found where they appear,
presumably left by some previous rain-soaked traveler.

I agree with you about the cluttered feeling in this photograph, however I think if it were much less cluttered it would be very plain.

I updated the image with a little brighter midtones. The original image looked alright in photoshop, but when placed against the white background it was very dark.
Even after I re-leveled this image, I don't think this does the shot justice. On my screen at home it looks good, but when I look at it on friend's monitors I'm always disappointed.
I think I'll put a significantly boosted image up for those of us who have darker monitors like this one. -
As a matter of fact, it is Killarney. Nellie Lake to be specific.

A decent example of Fuji Velvia and its unusual color response and reciprocity failure. This was a 30 second shot with no exposure or color filter compensation and no photoshopping. The low-pressure sodium lamps came out bright yellow, the tungsten headlights - warm white, and the high-pressure sodium lamps (much like flourescent light) came out bright green.
All in all, a very colorful night time shot.
