1.
The "meter" in the viewfinder will still show you if it thinks you are over or under exposing the photo. It shouldn't have any effect on the "M" exposure. When you set your exposure in manual, the meter will not/should not change your camera settings in manual.

I generally will meter in Av mode, and then switch to M to dial in the settings from there.

  2.
Is this magazine legit? Did you have to sign some sort of release for them to use your images? I don't know a lot about magazines, especially in Brazil. I would think a legit magazine would have a standard rate of pay to use your work. I can't imagine an established/reputable magazine not having an already established process for this.

  3.
A straight across trade between the two will not be huge.
A faster internal drive (7200rpm) will be quite a bit faster than an external hard drive, and you will see a decent improvement with 4gigs of ram. LightRoom is memory hungry, and 4 gigs works well.
The biggest increase you will probably see is switching from an external to an internal hard drive. Another option is an external hard drive conected with a firewire 800, but I think the internal 7200rpm is still faster.

  4.
The ST-E2 is not good in bright light. It works ok in smaller rooms with walls to bounce off of. I had an ST-E2 for about a month and sold it because it's performance was terrible for my needs. Although I use pocket Wizards, you can get a wireless triggering system on the bay for $20. They work fine for the little bit that I have played with them.

  5.
Although I just moved back to Omaha, I have yet to run into anyone that has caught my eye as a favorite. There are a couple of "Good" ones, but nothing jumps out as great. I attended one bridal fair, and the big one is coming up this weekend, so maybe there will be a stronger presence by more photographers.
I look to the likes of Tommy Colbert for inspiration. He has a great CD of a wedding shoot that is very good. His work in my eye's, is top notch.

  6.
I have never heard anything that resembles a frequent beep. If it is happening, I am oblivious to it. I have four 580ex's, and I have not noticed any of them doing this. Maybe I should send mine in and have the noise added for $128

  7.
Well, I just spent the last 8 months getting myself together, and moving from California back to Omaha. In California, the front of my house was a formal living room converted to meeting area/digital dark room/sales area.
I will be doing the same now that I am in Omaha, Although it will probably be a loft style downtown. I've done a couple of Starbucks's meet ups, but it gets to be a pain hauling sample albums around. It's nice to be able to have the examples of your work on hand, a computer for slide shows and work flow demonstrations.

  8.
I don't think a full refund is warranted here. Your photos surely aren't over exposed, if anything, the bulk of them are under exposed, and thin in the fill flash. Never the less, there are plenty of better than average images in the pages I looked at. I think your contract with them is going to be a guideline for how much you refund them, if any. Just my two cents worth. How are you covered by this in your contract? You're on the right track to try and work this out with them. I could surely correct more than two of those photos per hour. I could probably batch the whole wedding in lightroom in two hours or less.

  9.
Smugmug also has outstanding customer service, and they are very open to hearing what people would like to see added to the site. I'm sure if you sent them a link to this thread, they would look at it and consider, or inform you of what they have coming up in the near future. They are a good bunch of people. As listed above, dgrin has a full support forum. Great place to use for customizing your smug site. Tons of smart people there to help. You would not be dissapointed with their services.

  10. I've had the non IS version for years, and have never regretted buying. I think the price is a

little stiff for the non IS, but it's still a great lens regardless. Just enjoy it. I will be selling mine

soon, and only hope to get $999 out of it. I was thinking more like $750.

  11. Corri, I think it's a great shot. I like the soft focus on her arm. Like Anthony said, They are

who they are. You captured it well. Does the couple like the shot? That's really all that

matters. If you're happy with it, and they are happy with it, it's a good shot.

    Mike

  12. For the money, you aren't going to be able to beat the 5D. The only thing noticeable in

comparison to my 1DMKIIn is the focusing speed. The 5D is a dog compared to the 1 series

    when it comes to focusing.
