  1. Some of you seem to be a little confused.  Let me explain.  This is not a "capture."  It is not a "shot." Those are terms that are used to describe a photograph.   This is an illustration...a computer generated graphic made in a draw program.  Nothing against the artists creation.  I just thought I would point out the obvious for those who seem a bit lost.

  2. I like the suggestion of the crop, but would do it differently.  The soft whiteness on the tip top of the billowing cloud looks too tame for this otherwise nasty-looking storm.  My crop would still leave this as a vertical image, taking only the top 10% of the image away.  This way, the viewer can still awe at the massive size of this storm without losing so much information as per the horizontal crop.

Great nature and landscape photography is almost always about perfect timing and the patience to wait for just the right conditions. A spot like this is photographed by many, but its mystical beauty is only truly captured by a few. Marc, never-mind these jaded critics, who week after week tear down the photos posted in this forum, offering minimal intellectual critique, and who apparently have little to offer, insofar as photographic talent, themselves. Congratulations on a fine POW. Good choice elves.

The flower takes on the personality of a human being. It appears to be looking at its reflection in a mirror, but has just turned away as it does not like what is sees. The blur is a metaphor for the flowers dissatisfaction with its image or reflection.

Gordon, I contributed my thoughts on this discussion on April 26. Thank you for asking.
You must have missed 1/2 of my post where I was complimentary to photo.net contributors overall.
Alex wrote: "Childhood is not cute. And it is not all that interesting either. (This is why children can't wait to grown up, unless there is something wrong with them. )"
I don't consider this kind of comment even remotely constructive. And in fact, I find it obnoxious and insulting. Alex expressed his opinion, I offered mine, and you yours. I stand by my position.

I don't know if people like Alex are just living a miserable existence or they are just plain envious of other photographers who receive the recognition that they do not. Most who contribute to this site are talented critics who have much to offer in terms of techniques and ideas. These talented critics will offer criticism that is educated, analytical and helpful to other artists. When I read Alex's post I only see anger, bitterness, disrespect and misery. Your post is 100% nonconstructive and is nothing more than a careless spewing of your jaded negative opinions.

Forget the traditional photographic details for a moment. This image captured my attention immediately as a sharp contrast to the behavior of the sea as it wiped out parts of Japan in the form of a giant tsunami wave. This same water that has the ability to kill, suddenly is a gentle toy that nature has given this tiny girl to play with.

  3. This may not be a pc comment (photographically correct), but this photo is seriously "bad ass."  I mean that in a good way.  Very cool.  I like that the car is facing towards the weak side of the photo, heading off the left side.  Great motion.

Please review this shot and the other from slightly different

perspective. I can't decide which one I prefer. What is your take.

Both photos are in the same folder.
